Fished south of 380 for about an hour. The bank wasn't hard to navigate/climb. Still very dark flow with plenty of junk still floating downstream. I tried the shady pockets with a jr fluke but no dice. Need to watch Carey's videos some more I guess... I'll pass for tomorrow but should definitely be back out Wednesday.

The water was surprisingly clear, I went yesterday from about 1 to 5. Caught a couple sandies about 11", lost about a dozen roadrunner due to all the submerged limbs etc. I'm gonna have to load up on 30 lb. braid for next time... should be on later this week with the warmer weather.

Stopped by for 30 minutes on my way home around 11. I threw out flukes and a pink/white marabou jig with no hits. I know I was only there for 30 minutes but I hit the good spots south of the bridge and didn't see any fish at all. Is it possible that the big rain last saturday wasn't enough to bring the big numbers of fish past the mouth of the creek? I thought they would be pooling in big numbers by now... Wishful thinking I guess. I just need to stop wasting my time in the creek and finish my little boat so I can hit the coves...

Wishful thinking I guess. I just need to stop wasting my time in the creek and finish my little boat so I can hit the coves... I took the yak out to 380 on Tuesday to try and find em and ended up going about 2 and half miles down the creek towards the lake before I ever even coded any fish. The water was a steady 55-56 with not much budge. The fish that I did find were all in a huge turn in the creek were the banks cut hard and it turns to a deep pool, it drops off from a solid 6 feet trend to 14 feet and all of the fish were from 10-14 feet. I only caught 4 in the time I was able to spend, which granted was only a few hours, but they were all males and nothing bigger then 10 inches. It's been my thoughts that yes, the rain probably did help them. They just haven't made it far enough up stream yet for it to start kicking off. I believe that some have obviously but it's just been those few males scouting it out and the girls are starting to trend in behind them. By the end of this week they should be much closer to the 380 corridor.

thank you so much for that report. It makes total sense. There's a chance for rain Saturday so hopefully we get some and it pushes the ladies up stream for some action!

I know EXACTLY where you are speaking of!! That is where they were this time last year. Did you make it to the mouth of the creek? I was curious to know what the water depth was like at that point.

I went south of 380 on this friday (yesterday) and caught a big Ol' goose egg. I didnt even see a fish turn over until about 4pm. I ran into a guy taking his yak downstream, he said the same. at about 4 they started blowing up the top water, unfortunately i only had jigs and roadrunners with me. I will bring along a small torpedo and a frog next time....

Where were you @ 4? How many would you estimate were in the school that was surfacing? I'm just hoping that warmer temperatures will continue to push them upstream instead on leaving them down near the mouth.

Hiked down to the deep pool today. Looked like the water was flowing a bit more. Water still seemed cold though. Gar showing up and a few shad, but I didn't see any sign of the whites.

weather channel says 100% chance of rain on Wednesday in Denton.... After that we'll have highs above 70 for the foreseeable future. A week from today might be great fishing depending on the rain.
