When I lived in North Carolina I was fishing a tidal river, the White Oak north of Stella. Would occasionally see deer swim the river. One day about 75 yards from me, heard a splash looked, saw a doe swimming the 50 yead gap between banks, she made it about 15-20 yards then I saw about a 10 ft gator grab her at the neck, He took her down for the death roll I guess and never saw either one again.

The manatee definitely wins for me but while fishing a Mega Bass tourney on Fork 2 years ago, we watched an otter jump in the water off a stump and swim all around us before he popped up with a perfect 2# under in his mouth. he proceeded to go get up on a stump and enjoy his breakfast despite dropping it several times and having to go retrieve it again.....we were both shocked and pissed at the same time but had to appreciate nature doing its thing. I really wished we had taken a picture.

Another trip night fishing. The sky lit up from all sides of the horizon(360degrees). Like a 360 degree sunrise in a smooth motion the. Faded back the way it lit up. No drugs or alcohol involved. And have a witness. No idea what it was. No clouds or ightning eitheir was a clear sky night.

I had a similar thing happen on Fork while night fishing, Bb1. But it was overcast. Complete blanket of clouds but I'm guessing the ceiling was probably 5,000 ft, so not low clouds.
All of a sudden around 3am, 360 degrees all around us, it was daylight, but blue-green daylight. So bright I could clearly see the rip rap on the dam from Williams/Little Mustang point. Lasted about 5 seconds and was over. It was a meteorite. White fireball with a long blue-green tail on it.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

I was wade fishing at Lake Lewisville between the Lake Park ramp and the fishing barge. As I was in the water I spotted a huge shadow swimming in the water. I thought it was a catfish so I walked onto the bank, made a couple of casts around it and then it came crawling up the bank. It was a 30 lb. beaver! Thirty pound beavers are a sight to see!! I saw several beavers a couple years ago at the islands on Texoma.

I too have caught birds. On the TX coast I've caught several seagulls while they were in the air and a pelican who dove and caught my spoon. They were all a joy to unhook. While fishing on the Suwanee River in FL I had an owl come down 3 times and pick up a jitterbug, I'm glad I didn't hook him. Catch and release is all I do for what ever species of fish or fowl that I catch...

I caught a big crappie at Pier 121 (Lake LL) and there was this blue herring on the dock. When I pulled in the fish and took it off the hook and set the fish down to get the stringer it came in and grabbed my fish and did just what you see in the video link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTe-5UBBIZQ&feature=related Pretty cool video. I used to feed one smaller crappie at the same pier.

While fishing Alan Henery last year I was leaving big grape and headed back to the ramp and in the widest part of the lake I thought I saw a floater log and swerved and then went back and it was a doe doing a distance swim across the lake to the dam so I follows her and when she made it there she was so tired she could even stand up.

I had an otter come out of a hole in a clay bank and cut my worm off but the manatee wins.

I've had to swat bats away night fishing. btw, their sonar doesn't pick up fishing line very well either. Had a snake take a bluegill away from me that was flopping around at my feet. But Manatee wins--hands down. unless someone has a gator that came swimming up to them that they let follow them home.

I also caught a loon once. It took a 10" live sucker minnow. Thought I had huge musky, those loons can fight. And I had a pod of Dolphin swim really close and decimate a school of trout one night while I was flounder gigging (wading) with my Dad. That was eerie, you could here them splashing and breathing, and then a piece of trout would float by. They stayed just out of the arc of our underwater lights. Spooky.
But I'm voting for the Manatee, that was way cool.

Night fishing at Fork and was working my way to the back of Williams. Just as I got to the floating boat slip I heard this noise that wasn't right... so as I get closer to the lily pads throwing a buzz bait, there is was, a couple in the water on the ramp just going at it! They never skipped a beat, she was a moaner!!!
