I just call them Lake Fork Jellyfish. I know it's incorrect but it works for me.

I have heard it means the lake is turning over as well!

How do the fish respond when the lake turns over?

It might just be that they bloom around this time of year and the turnover on Fork is usually relatively consistent in mid September, give or take depending on the year.

In my experience the lake seems to cool down and turnover in parts much like in the spring when sections of the lake are in different stages of the spawn. Find what works best for you or spots to try according to that. I don't mind fishing while it's happening you just have to adjust to areas that aren't effected as much like the mids to backs of creeks and shallower water. It doesn't take too long for the fish to get readjusted, but if you're in the belly of it you can be in for a challenge. Buuut, I'm no expert and "the fish usually don't read the same books we do" - as I was once told by a wise fisherman! azn

Anytime is a good time to fish! hooked
