Prefer to fish with someone else but always seem to have to go by myself which I'm starting to enjoy bc I don't have to worry about them not being able to make a good cast bc I'm hogging the front of the boat

I grew up fishing with my dad, so i like fishing with someone else. When i started to get older and could take our boat out by myself in highschool if he was out of town i would take friends from school.
I learned quickly how much of a pain in the rear it can be to have a non-experienced boater with you lol.
I fish prolly 95% of the time by myself now and do alot better when i'm alone, but since i don't tourney fish anymore i just fish to relax and have fun it is nice to have a good friend go with me.

I fish alone most of the time unless its on a Wed. On Wed most the strippers I have "invested" in their futures are off and like to get out on the lake..

I will fish by myself if no one is going along. I gotta remember to invite them some time. I have fished alone a much greater percentage than with a partner. I seem to pay more attention to what I am doing and catch quite a few more as a result when solo and will work an area much more thouroughly since nobody is on the back to catch the 2nd level fish
Long time bass fisherman, in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, West by God Virginia,Minnesota,Indiana,Canada and now my new home state of Texas.

I go to the storage unit and pick up the boat the night before heading to the lake.I load everthing up and head out the next morning. Its a little trouble to launch by myself but I get that out of the way.I finally hop in the boat and now all the work is done.I turn the boat away from the ramp and head out to open water. Then it hits me.I am free!!!Thats the feeling that makes fishing by myself worth it.

Yeah, the other day I got invited to a party, but I stayed on the lake instead. Just me and my pal Johnny Revo, and an F5 in watermelon red.

I love fishing with my wife or just about anybody, but with that said, I'm never alone when I go fishing. My fishing buddy is Pistol Pete, my 6 1/2 lbs Maltees dog. He loves to ride in the boat and go fishing. Even when he's not there, I'm never alone. I've always got myself to talk to. Heck, some of my best converstions are with me and believe me, I'm not a yes man. I don't always agree with me. I think I'll go take a nap.
Like me for what I am, or don't like me at all.

I have fished a many a days alone and even tho it isn't as much fun I still catch fish and they weigh what I say they weigh.
Also I like to do commentary and pretend I am KVD. I even was seen doing this by an old man fishing off of his dock and I didn't see him until I was a boat dock or two away. Thankfully he went inside his house before I got to him. He was walking pretty fast.

Great post, and great replies. I always fish with a partner, and don't go if I can't find someone I enjoy fishing with. Could the solo fisherman provide some key points on how to best launch and put back on trailer when they are alone? Pretty intimidating to me. Thank you guys very much.

I am in a wheelchair with only one leg and have fished a many a day alone when I launched and loaded by myself. Unloading was easy but loading up was kinda tough.
You wouldn't believe how many people have helped me load up and just how much I appreciated it. I met so many nice people.

I use to fish 90% of the time with a buddy and it was great to have him there. But his wife got sick and passed and he hasn't wanted to go since. Maybe he will want to go soon, at least I hope so. My wife goes with me sometimes, but it is not the same, she does not fish. But she does support my efforts.

To MH1973 re launching by yourself. I saw my main man Denny Brauer do this and now that's the way I do it. Tie a long rope that's attached to your truck and boat. Back the boat in and as it floats away from the trailer pull up. Don't get to rowdy with it, just let the slack pull out of the rope then pull your boat forward until it beaches itself on the ramp. Obviously you need a keel guard. But then just step out, untie your boat and go park your truck.
