I have a fishing license but by brother in law doesnt. Cheap a$$ wont go get one. Can I get into trouble if he is fishing without one and the GW checks us? I didnt know if i could get a ticket since he is in my boat fishing without a license. Nope, not unless he does something illegal that could get you a ticket, like more than two limits. That said, were it I, No license, No fish. Heck my son and his girlfriend fish with us maybe once or twice a year and I make sure they have weekend licenses when they go. Not worth the hassle. Or, the other option is only go fishing with him on that one weekend a year where you do not need a license. I think its the first weekend in June....

Joke???
What is the difference between a 12" channel catfish and a 12" flathead catfish?
About $250 plus court costs.

Speaking from experience....
Cost me $375 fine and repatriation fee. That after a letter to the local judge, who offered to have me extradited from my county and jailed if I did not pay up immediatly.
And you let them do that with out a fight? Any $hitty lawyer with a cracker-jack law degree could have beaten that, a DPS trooper tried that on me for speeding when I was about eighteen years old. I worked for the Tarrant County Constable at the time and I knew the law. The officer was reprimanded pretty severely from what I was told by my boss.

Dear Mr Bunker,
I'm not sure if your briefing on the art of recognizing satire was funny or obnoxious. I can't decide. But one thing is for sure...I wish I had the last 5 minutes of my life back!
I think the only thing I can say with any degree of certainty, is that you did a spectacular job of controlling your grammatical errors for such a long rant.

$11 for a day or $30 for a year is not worth a $150 ticket gamble in my book, but maybe thats just me. $150?? Try $290! Just this year.. Lazy about renewing... Got a ticket at a POND behind an elementary school. Almost 300 bucks later...

My brother-in-law wants to take my 6yr old out to the local pond. He's from out-of-state and doesn't have a license. Is it ok if he casts for my girl but lets her set the hook and reel it in? Is he fishing without a license?
I would think that "Yes" your brother-in-law would need a license unless the pond they were fishing was a private pond. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/faq/fishboat/fish/index.phtml#license

I'm guessing Archie doesn't have a driver's license, pay property taxes, or have his autos inspected. Why bother with all that needless legal compliance when you can save those funds for "fun stuff".

Hammerpants is either not serious or he/she is 9 years old and playing on the computer...Fish/Hunt without a license and you will be fined/jailed/all your gear will be confiscated, and you will pay civil restitution to Texas for your illegal take. Besides all these facts, the license fees are primarily spent by the State to improve the fishing and hunting opportunities (except for the small amount they have to set aside to prosecute mouth-breathers like you). Get legal or stay home. You can fish in private waters without a license.
Pass it on. Take a kid fishing!!

If you are an illegal alien and you get caught fishing more than likely law enforcement will let you walk a way with no tickets. Law enforcement has no way to track illegals, they don't have driver licenses so even if they write them a ticket, there is no way they could ever issue a warrant and find them. More than likely the illegal will give a fake name and fake address and this ties up law enforcements and court sytems, so most law enforcements just turn a blind eye to illegals and let them walk.

I don't think the fishing license thing is really so much a hard law as it is a suggestion. Its like donating the extra dollar for cancer kids at the grocery store...not necessary but sort of appreciated.
It is definately A LAW. It says in the TPWD rules. YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSE...definately necessary. I dunno...its not like the State is going to hire some attorney to enforce an obscure wildlife "law" that most people are completely unaware of anyway. I mean, attorneys cost literally hundreds of dollars - for real, they do. I just can't see them spending that for what...a few fish? That just doesn't seem likely. Fish are, for the most part, free. Even still, all this assumes a cop catches you. More than likely it'll just be some game warden. That's like a mall security guard pulling you over for speeding. Just because someone has flashing lights and a little metal badge doesn't make them legit. Just wanted you to know, a Texas Game Warden has more authority than any Law enforcement officer in the state of Texas. Law enforcement uses them to search vehicles, homes and boats campers etc.. why? because they do not need a warrant to do it. This is not Mayberry rfd, a ticket from a Game Warden is the same as any law enforcement agency, they are goverened by the State of Texas.

Not true, Illegals go to jail. If they are fishing, don't have a license and no valid ID. They are transported to jail, booked in and get to see the JP the next morning. They will pay the fine to get out. They don't get to just walk away.
