Copied from TPWD :
A fishing license is required of anyone who fishes in the public waters of Texas. This covers all the legal means and methods used for taking fish from rod and reel to bow fishing. All persons under 17 years of age, whether Texas residents or non-residents, are exempt from license requirements. Texas residents who were born before September 1, 1930 are exempt from license requirements. Texas residents who are 65 years of age and older and who were born after September 1, 1930 may purchase a Senior Resident Fishing License.

And for the record a Game Warden has more authority than just some cop in the state of Texas.

Good point, didnt think about it that way. If he tried to pull that stunt and say the fish werent his, he would be riding back to the shoreline with the game warden or swimming, cause i wouldnt be taking him back to the ramp.

Either you are being sarcastic, or you have no clue.
One thing I do know, game wardens have more authority than any other law enforcement agency in our state. They are not like 'mall cops'.

I dunno...its not like the State is going to hire some attorney to enforce an obscure wildlife "law" that most people are completely unaware of anyway. I mean, attorneys cost literally hundreds of dollars - for real, they do. I just can't see them spending that for what...a few fish? That just doesn't seem likely. Fish are, for the most part, free.

Even still, all this assumes a cop catches you. More than likely it'll just be some game warden. That's like a mall security guard pulling you over for speeding. Just because someone has flashing lights and a little metal badge doesn't make them legit. [/quote]

you don't know texas law or what game wardens do

It is definately A LAW. It says in the TPWD rules. YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSE...definately necessary.

The State would have to hire an attorney??? My goodness, the State and counties and municipalities, etc, etc have courts, judges, jails, prisons, prosecuters and armed law enforcemnet officers already on the payroll just waiting for scofflaws that think it is all a big joke and laws won't be enforced. Please rethink this before you learn the hard way. Or, if this is all tongue-in-cheek, you had me going!

HammerPants, let us know when you are going to go fishing. WE all would like to go with you with our Game Wardens by our side. I am sure he would love to go fishing with you and show you just how much authority he does have.

i think someone has the definition of Game Warden and Park Ranger confused. Most GW's i know would give a ticket to their own mother. They have absolute authority, no probable cause or search warrant needed and they can slap you with a felony..

Love to see this guy lip off to a GW thinking he is a park ranger and see how far he gets.

Yeah, Mr Rohmer thought that also....

L O L! thumb yeah, next time they stop you on the water try that out & let us know how that works out for ya.

The Game Wardens are the most powerful Law Enforcement officers in the state, they have the same Arrest Authority as any other Police Officer or DPS Trooper with a greater authority & jurisdiction!

Mall Security guard is a hired "Private Security" that has no arrest authority or jurisdiction & not backed by the law... GW's are considerably different

They don't have to hire an Attorney, It's prosecuted by the District Attorney for the County in which the offense occurred...

Really? $30... Skip 1 Bottle of Liquor or your 2 Cases of Natty Light for a day & you can afford $30 for your license, It's not difficult... Not Like were buying a single $1800 Elk Tag for Colorado... it's only $30... 1/2 a Tank of Gas... 3/4 Carton of smokes, I dump more than that in Fuel before I even leave the dock...

I tried to be normal but it got boring so it's just back to being ME~
