I have a fishing license but by brother in law doesnt. Cheap a$$ wont go get one. Can I get into trouble if he is fishing without one and the GW checks us? I didnt know if i could get a ticket since he is in my boat fishing without a license.

Simple answer. Tell him that if he wants to go fishing in your boat, he has to have a fishing license. If he wants to get his own boat, let him do what he wants.

Like it was said, it wouldn't affect you. I too wouldn't allow them in my boat if they weren't abiding by the law.

Technically speaking you could get in trouble.
Example.....you are catfishing and have 30 fish in the box. You are heading back across the lake and GW stops you(he did not see your passenger fishing)....if the passenger denies that those fish are his then guess what....YOU SOL!

I don't think the fishing license thing is really so much a hard law as it is a suggestion. Its like donating the extra dollar for cancer kids at the grocery store...not necessary but sort of appreciated.

$11 for a day or $30 for a year is not worth a $150 ticket gamble in my book, but maybe thats just me.

It is definately A LAW. It says in the TPWD rules. YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSE...definately necessary.

I have a neighbor that wants to go fishin with me but he does not have a license and I told him he could not go until he gets a license. If he tells me he has a license I will tell him to show it to me or he will not go. We were checked today and the GW was polite but down to business He did not count our 2 limits of whites. If someone in your boat does not have a license and you get caught they can and will go thru your boat just like someone mentioned before. I don't need the hassle and I think if you are going to fish you should have a license.

It is definately A LAW. It says in the TPWD rules. YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSE...definately necessary. I dunno...its not like the State is going to hire some attorney to enforce an obscure wildlife "law" that most people are completely unaware of anyway. I mean, attorneys cost literally hundreds of dollars - for real, they do. I just can't see them spending that for what...a few fish? That just doesn't seem likely. Fish are, for the most part, free. Even still, all this assumes a cop catches you. More than likely it'll just be some game warden. That's like a mall security guard pulling you over for speeding. Just because someone has flashing lights and a little metal badge doesn't make them legit.
