This is what they're telling me at the Keller WM. The fishing stuff will come back in the spring.

Stopped by the Walmart in Round Rock (off of Hwy 79)this morning and the fishing equipment in there is pretty much down to nothing.

Went by WalMart in McAllen and most of the Gamakatsu hook racks were empty. But I saw a marine first aid kit on closeout for $5.00, less than 1/2 price. I happened to need one, as my other "waterproof" first aid kit got soaked in the rainstorm we ran into on the way back from Falcon last weekend. This store never had much of any freshwater stuff, what they had was mostly saltwater. Now, it may not even have that, soon. My guess is they will still carry a minimum amount of saltwater gear and some snoopy rods. Good thing there is an Academy around here, at least they have a "pretty good" selection of freshwater items.

they downsized that store I think last year, but they still have a lot of the primary lures like cranks, traps, swimbaits, etc...

Just to make room for more Chinese made junk to sell at that store. UnAmerican flag

They always do this clearance/markdown thing this time of year... and I always walk in and say "Dang that is cheap... I'll kick myself later or next spring, if I need this item, I could have purchased it for less than $5.00". I have shelves of stuff in my garage with the clearance sticker still on them (crawfish traps, nets, pumps, boat stuff).

I have used 110v GE fillet knife for years, but always a little concerned about the extension cords running right next to the garden hoses when I am cleaning fish.

The stores in Plano have American Angler Fillet knives for $5.00 (12v and 110v) so I purchased 2 of them, and the saltwater shark blades (thinner blades for the angler) were only $1.50 and I purchase 3 of them. A bag of 2oz lead weights 2/pag) was on clearance for $1.00 (have you priced these at Academy???), but the lady at the counter marked them down an additional 50cents.

Starting to Kayak fish, and plan on targeting crappie, so I 'dream' that these will hold minnows well (kayak won't hold the either of my 50, 30, or 20 gallon bait tanks).
I also purchaed two round yellow plastic minnow buckets (maybe 1 liter with foam insulation insert and a lid which has a place to attach battery motorized air pump for $3.00/each (regular $8) and then found the battery motors for $1.50 each.

Came home, moved a few coolers so I can reach a few shelves near the garage floor (nice hiding place), and found 5 brand new pair of female dress shoes (JUST KIDDING!!!)... moved the crawfish traps, and placed these items on the shelves. I hope I can remember that they are there, when I need them smile... or when the next 60G garage sales comes around smile.

I hope they still sell fishing licenses, because I am rather fond of the free licenses to military active duty.

The Wal-MArt in Wylie has by far the best selection I have seen. FYI.....the store owner is an avid fisherman so their product will remain and will not downsize.
