I've never owned a business, but I have heard the phrase "make hay while the sun is shining". But, for the life of me, I do not understand why Ammo mfgrs. are not hiring and cranking 24/7 to take advantage of the sales of ammo. Same with Lysol spray mfgrs. Guns and Butter, Supply and Demand. Geesh. Have we become that lazy that we turn Customers away? I would imagine that Gun Range owners are hurting right now. Who wants to rip through two boxes of 9mm ammo at a paper target to the tune of $70 alone for the cost of ammo.
Manufacturers are struggling to get the raw materials needed. Business was sloooowwww before all of this started, but they still planned for a moderate spike in sales since it is an election year. When all of the other stuff hit and the panicking started, manufacturers blew through their stock of materials and cleaned out their suppliers in no time. Now, they are scraping the bottom of the barrels to make the stuff, while we scrape the bottom of our barrels to have something to sell. Then, when a manufacturer does happen to get a huge lot of ammo out to dealers, a large portion of those dealers will mark it up INSANE amounts and sit on it. Just talked to a customer in Florida who said a gun store local to him was selling 50rd boxes of JHP 9mm for $200 each... Must have been "Cheaper then Dirt" as they have a long history of raising prices to a level that some consider price gouging. I work with a guy who worked for CTD for many years. He said when some sort of crisis or event happens that they think warrants an immediate increase in price on certain products, they will take all of the placed orders that haven't shipped yet, raise the price on them, charge the difference to the customer's card without notifying them, and ship it. Then, if you have a problem with it, they will point you to a disclaimer on their site somewhere stating they can do that. Its crazy. And yeah, they wrote the book on price gouging. Been doing it for years.

Pretty much. Some people keep 100 rounds, others stock 34,000

Don't be too concerned about running out of ammo! You can't carry thousands of rounds of ammo on your person, and if you were to take a stand in place, odds are high that you won't use up very much of it before you are overrun! Hoarders are going to continue to hoard, and the panic only puts money in their pocket, so people need to chill out! Exactly. If you/we ever get to a point of needing 60k of ammo, the individual/family/small group will not be able to hold off what’s coming. That is a fact. You will be overrun in short order. If you approach it rationally more money should be spent on setting up a defensive position rather than ammo. Most people’s idea of a defensive position, isn’t. But to each their own. i agree with being over run but i can count 40 homes with firepower when i look out my front door surely that would help

Dosent matter hoe many guns or amount if ammo you have . If the World gets to that point you will be dead in weeks . They will just wait for you to go outside and they will shoot you down . Take all your stuff and move in

I don't really understand any of the handgun ammo shortages. You are talking about rounds (9MM and 40 S&W) that are not the most accurate after 50 yards even out of carbine rifles. In a SHTF scenario: Theoretically, if you are holding a position, the opponents trying to take that position are going to be armed with longer range weapons. If you are defending a position solely with these type of rounds, you are already dead. Opponent will be too far away for that ammo to be effective and they can easily accurately shoot/advance and you will be overrun shortly. If you need to fall back to these types of rounds for an escape/fall back you are not going to be lugging more than 1 or 2 ammo cans. That is assuming you leave with only that 1 weapon and ammo for said weapon.
To each their own. Even when ammo was cheaper, you can get a lot of money tied up in an abundance of ammo that would be better spent on other "prepper" things if that was the intended goal.

It's the same as the toilet paper deal. Doesn't make sense but now that it is hard to get, that's what everyone is flipping out about. Then when their doomsday wet dream doesn't pan out, they will want to return it for a refund. That's when they'll really lose their minds since ammo is not returnable.

This is the same as it was during the Revolutionary war. The Brits were "They" and Patriots were "We". Just saying you may want to consider simply giving in and or giving up to "They".

You're still gonna die I don't have 60,000 rounds either, but I have plenty and I still contend it is no ones business how many rounds I or any other citizen has. We are all going to die sooner or later.

17 million background checks for firearm purchases were done between January and October of 2020. Each firearm is useless without ammo.
But preppers bought up all the ammo...
First time firearm ownership is up 40%
But preppers bought up all the ammo...
African American firearm ownership is up 58%
But preppers bought up all the ammo...
There is a family behind me that has fired around 500 rounds so far today. They're probably preppers.
