I doubt we'll ever know the actual number of cases out there. Just until I think either yesterday or today, the only people who could be tested were those who were already showing severe symptoms, and in the most critical age range, AND had known exposure to someone else who was a carrier.
As of today, my cousins in Houston are showing symptoms, but were still ordered to come to work. Others in their 20s showing symptoms are told by the hospitals and doctors to go home. That they have tested negative for the flu, and did do a proper covid19 test, but said it would be five days before they got a result back.
Meanwhile they're just going about their daily business. Symptoms are one thing but specific symptoms are another. This is screening criteria even at hospitals, from the CDC and State of Texas: Fever Cough Shortness of breath Have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or live in or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19. I don't personally agree with this but testing kits for COVID-19 are at a premium. Once this is over we'll find out we weren't strigent enough with testing I am sure. BTW ... my unit has been chosen as the care unit in SE Tx ... it will take sick patients that fit screening profiles (chest Xray is very important) . I can't wait to return to work tomorrow. Stay safe sir. My hat is off to you and your folks for doing what you do.

We are up to two cases so far.
Dude from Nashville came up here...turned up sick. Gave it to the nurse taking care of him.

Jefferson just got #2 but our freaking leadership wont give ANY info on how many test or anything that's been given or if the patients have been around or where. Hardin county has 1 supposedly, he came from Louisiana straight home to quarantine and been there since. He was tested in LA after coming off an oil rig sick

Jefferson up to 3 with the latest being a health care worker. They still wont release ANY info to the where or anything so that people will know if theyve come in contact with anybody that's tested positive. More stupidity from our leadership. Also, chambers and liberty just got their 1st cases. For some reason jefferson hasnt been showing up on the state website to have any cases yet
