agree and frankly it's really disturbing that a bunch of crybabies create "ethical rules that don't exist". So if I were a local guide and this was one of my honeyholes and this "pro" was on it when I showed up with clients, using the rest of the logic on this thread, I'm totally within my right to kick him off "my spot"? Please...just shut up and fish.

One of these day ol Legend LE-195's axe is going to run out of edge to grind on. He's just going to have a little metal nub left. Do me a favor Legend, ask the FLW guys that fished Kentucky lake last yr on Saturday if this type of thing is restricted to high school kids. You know it isn't. But keep grinding that axe buddy. It's actually comical how bitter your are about this issue.

like this has never happened before...... but this time, it was apparently HS anglers and it made Legend LE's year. He finally has televised proof that HS anglers are ruining the sport So when a HS kid poaches a fishing spot it is the HS anglers ruining the sport however if a HS kid does anything else stupid parents are to blame. Hmmm I think this type of thing starts somewhere else...If that was my kid the boat would be parked for a looong time!

How come nobody wines when someone is on my spot when I am in a tournament? Or on our spot when I am captaining a high school tournament? At what level do I get to start reserving spots and how much notice did I need to give the local community? Dude was fishing for $100,000 , a little respect was warranted. I wonder how much respect there will be on Rayburn when they are fishing to win 300k

Wait, I'm confused how is it ok for high school kids, most likely fishing a tournament, poaching B Lat's spot, when it is more than likely known he has been fishing the area because it was all over FLW Live where he was? B Lat even said the kids were fishing near him earlier that day, they knew he was there. A couple of years ago when people moved in on KVD's area at Toledo, people defended KVD and pther elites. I don't see how this is any different than back then. Here is one of the threads from then https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/11610622/1

So help me to understand. Tournament Fishermen are privileged, and if they catch a fish anywhere on the lake, that spot is off limits to all other fishermen until the tournament is over. So what if the day before the tournament I get on fish, then by your reasoning "my" spot is off limits to the tournament guy should I show up the next day, RIGHT? WOW!

This topic has been discussed on the TFF for the last 20 years. All the answers boil down to two conclusions.
1. It's a public lake and you should not be chastised for fishing anywhere on the lake regardless of who was there before you.
2. Show the pros some courtesy since it is how they make their living.
Personally, I think the only exception is if there are two tournaments on the lake. IMO, if you aren't fishing a tournament and you know a pro has been doing well on a spot, it's just a lack of common courtesy to move in and fish the spot, especially for a person who considers themselves a tournament angler. Karma is a bitch and she usually catches up to you.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I think its called common sense and having some respect and courtesy. All the high school teams have adult boat captains so its the adult at fault either way. After overseeing a high school club for the last three years and personally witnessing the behavior of a couple of parents and one particular boat captain nothing surprises me any more. Ive met some great people and friends being involved in high school fishing and the positives far outweigh the negatives. But, like every sport, job, etc. theres always those one or two parents/people that cause 90% of the issues.
If the high school team saw him fishing there Id think the respectful thing to do is not fish it. Its high school fishing but many parents take it as if their kid is going pro though they dont even fish besides the tournaments Its great to get kids out fishing but with money involved it can get ugly, like every other sport. I can see both viewpoints but Id think the right thing to do is fish another spot in a tournament of this level. Actually, I think the high school tournament should have been moved to another date but know that might not always be possible.

Some people will move in on the pros and have the "It's a public lake and I can fish wherever I want, whenever I want to.... this is about me and my day" perspective. Other people will be a little more courteous and realize this guy is fishing for $100k and for a living. They will give him space and fish somewhere else. The Pros are only on that lake once a year for a few days when money is on the line. Regardless if they already knew about the spot or not, they could certainly see the pro's boat and the camera inside of it filming them. The captain should have made the call to move, but I guess it just depends on your character as to what you do at that point. I personally wouldn't fish there, but other people would and will defend their point of view. To each their own I guess.

So what if the day before the tournament I get on fish, then by your reasoning "my" spot is off limits to the tournament guy should I show up the next day, RIGHT? WOW! You took that a total different direction... I'll try to explain. If your going to the lake and the pros are there fishing, perhaps your plan is to pot lick for an upcoming tournament, maybe your just there to watch the pros fish, or maybe just fun fishing. So you see a pro boat and ease over to watch, its an area you have never fished before. Then when said pro leaves the spot, again that you had no prior knowledge was there, you decide to fish the spot that you just potlicked. Then an hour later said pro comes back to the spot and finds you sitting on the area fishing it. Why did he leave if its so good, simple... water reloads or perhaps he had a milk run of these type spots. Either way he's fishing for $100k, atleast have the decency to come back and fish it AFTER the tournament... or if your dead set on being a potlicker then waypoint it after he leaves but DONT FISH THE SPOT DURING THE TOURNAMENT the guy you stole it from is fishing. If you truly already know the spot or its a community hole I'd never fault a person for fishing it, but if you didnt know the spot in advance of seeing the pro on it thats a total douche move. I dont care if its a High School angler or a 50 year old man, wrong is wrong.

Those that don't understand why this is wrong....never will....no matter how many times you try to explain it to them.

Maybe they knew about the spot beforehand and they were ALSO fishing a tournament. They saw a pro leave a spot THEY knew about beforehand and then moved in to fish it after he left it...again...rather than making negative assumptions, lets all agree that NOBODY here owns the water and NOBODY here knows exactly what these high school kids were thinking.
