I saw that on Texoma this weekend...boat jumped up on plane with the Motor guide down...ran a few seconds and shut 'er down, life jacket off, stow motor, look around to see if anyone noticed, fire it up and take off again.

I had mine for about since march and have fished about three days a week and havent had that problem yet. But when i do it will be what it is a trolling motor that failed.
I had two individuals in my boat that have the ultera. Both have said it takes a bit of getting used to but the foot control is very fast on my Ulterra/

When I am unable to raise or lower my trolling motor by hand I will just fish for catfish from the bank.

I just got the Ultrex. I'd rather have it than a depth finder. It made my last 3 fishing trips very enjoyable in 15-20 mph winds.

Ordered my Ultrex last week... of course they are always on back order no matter where you order it. I ordered mine from the factory too!

My Ultrex is awesome. I had the Motorguide Xi5 with pinpoint before it. I dearly love the power steering foot pedal. I love the jog feature and spotlock. I also can operate it from any graph remote, cell phone or foot pedal. It's way smarter than me.

It's a game changer. I set it on spotlock this weekend in the wind on Texoma and fished a ledge as if a guide was running the boat...only better.

I did one better....I tied a Skeeter to my little Nitro and held us both over a deep ledge. Prop speed never went over 2-1/2 and the battery gauge showed my optimas were still fully charged after 3+ hours of holding two boats.

The things are really better than we can brag about. The spot lock is so easy on the batteries that I'm sure it could hold my boat for at least 14-16 hours, non-stop, in a 15mph wind on a single charge.

I've had the Ulterra....been in the shop twice for the belt popping off. On the 3rd trip Minnkota decided to send me a brand new one.. I worked a deal to pay the difference and get the Ultrex. Excited because I heard the GPS for the spot lock is a lot more dialed in. The Ulterra was ok at best in this Dept.

Does the jog feature require the link model or does the ultrex in general utilize that feature?

I have to say I was a little surprised the Ultrex didn't have the powered stow and deploy feature that the Ulterra did. I didn't reazlie this until it was on my new boat. I would have still bought the Ultrex over the Ulterra simply based on the horrible feedback about the foot pedal I got from people I know that had the Ulterra.

I think you are right that at some point they will phase out the Ulterra and have a model of the Ultrex that comes with the powered stow and deploy and I agree that would THE perfect trolling motor.
