I used tungsten for years but i switched back to lead (mostly) for the following reasons: - tungsten broke the glass beads too often, causing me to re-tie or worse a break off when it sheared through the main line. I switched to brass clackers, but ... - again had to re-tie often because tungsten tends to fray the main line a lot quicker than lead - on the odd occasion when i had to break off the weight, losing a $5 chunk of metal in the process was just insult to injury. a grown man crying on the water is not a good look.
I will still tie tungsten on braid main line when feel is super important - like trying to find a small patch of gravel on a large point or something. If I am fishing brush, no need for tungsten, IMO.

I've been using double tungsten for a while due to this article by Kelly Jordan and a few others. He stated: "One day I rigged my Lake Fork (guide) clients' lines with the dual tungsten weights, and I used lead," he recalls. "They caught 15 bass on one spot, and I caught two. I switched to the tungsten weights and began catching just as many as they were. But when I switched back to the lead, they started outfishing me. That made me realize how important the extra noise can be." https://www.bassmaster.com/tips/carolina-rigging-depthIt gives me confidence and I feel I hang up less due to the smaller width and cone shaped nose. I still retie with lead when I brake off though due to not being able to stomach that cost multiple times lol

Ok..today. I anchored up a friend of mine in his Skeeter to my Nitro on a little ridge. He wanted to get some deep water bites. We each had the exact same line, weight(his steel mine tungsten), leader length and same color and type of bait. He caught zero, I caught a 6lb11oz, a 4lb, and a few other decent keepers. He was stumped. Only difference was the type of weight. And maybe a skill level difference. But, he usually catches our kicker fish in tourneys.

So why did you catch more fish? I was on a Nitro vs a Skeeter! Just kidding. I honestly think it was due to me knowing the spot better than him. I knew when to pause and when to hop the bait.

I think lead is just fine for C rig, those 5 dollar weights are just too expensive to lose.

I used to throw 3/4 or 1oz lead
now I throw 1/2oz tungsten
I can get away with a much smaller weight because of the density, easier to cast long distance in my opinion
What weighs more a lb of feathers or a lb of bricks?

For me, tungsten just feels better than lead. To each their own though.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

Just split the difference and use brass. Gets you the noise and feel without the price. They're a little bigger, but who cares on a c-rig.

There, that's settled once and for all.
