I've been using tungsten for tx and C rigs but I'be been wondering how important it really is to have them
for c rigs. I usually throw a 3/4 oz for deeper water. At depths of say 20+ feet do you still think tungsten has advantages over lead?

Smaller and louder

I don't think so. I've been using lead forever with success and have no reason to change. Sometimes smaller isn't better when you want to kick up the bottom.

I prefer the tungsten over the lead on a Tx or Carolina rig either one. I think it gives me a better feel and makes for a better click with the glass bead. I still have alot of brass weights for Carolina rigs and will continue to use them but if rigging for a tournament will opt for the tungsten.

Larger and more displacement of soil and water

Just have to keep checking your glass beads if using tungsten. Has a tendency to eventually chip the glass and damage fluorocarbon. I use the brass clackers instead

On a c-rig, with that much weight, I don't think it makes enough of a difference to be worth it.

I often fish a c-rig in rocky areas though and I lose quite a few. If each one was a $10 weight, I'd lose $100 on some days. Lead or brass for me.

I am not a guru on Crig.. but saw an interesting idea the other day from Lake Fork Guy. He uses 2 1/2oz tungsten barrel shaped weights with a bobber stopper just above the first one. Just enough space for the 2 weights to clack against each other. He put a bead also before the swivel.. so thee was a lot of ways for the rig to make noise. I don't know if that makes a difference or not on the Crig.. I'm still learning how to fish it.

Led works great. It takes ALOT less force to deform led so if you get stuck between rocks or somthing it will come out easier. If you wedge a tungsten, it's not moving.

This. Yes you get a better feel with tungsten, but with that heavy of a weight, I can tell what I'm hitting with lead.

The fish can tell that your trying to be cheap....they won't bite unless you use tungsten.

Man I was afraid of that! Tungsten it is then.... maybe some tungsten with diamonds in it.
