Try 1/32 oz jigs! I quit fishing for gills with worms and various assorted live baits YEARS AGO when I found out they will MURDER small crappie jigs. In clear water blue/white, chartreuse, chartreuse/red, firecracker, black/chartreuse and even solid white, will all work beautifully for big 'gills. I cast them out, give about a two count and start a SLOW, STEADY retrieve. DY-NO-MITE!

Rudy I love jig flies for gill fishing (they will catch anything though). This one is tied by a TFF member and is deadly at 1/100 oz

The Walmart in Athens definitely does have worms lol, Canadian night crawlers and "big red worms" I just bought some last weekend.

The Walmart in Athens definitely does have worms lol, Canadian night crawlers and "big red worms" I just bought some last weekend. Where was their cooler at? I looked at the usual place for a Walmart and didnt see it. Is it hidden behind the counter ?

I honestly don't remember but it did take me a second to find because it was in a weird spot. I think it may have been right by the gun desk.
