[quote=jig master]So is pot licking a person who relies on others To put brush piles condos etc out .. But they never Put in the effort of making any piles of there own .. They just fish others piles ? Please someone answer That !!! NO! Because not all piles you see on the bottom of the lake are man made. Believe it or not, there are BP's on every lake that were not put there by someone, and even if they were, they belong to whoever finds them. Once they are dropped, they belong to the fishing public. To me a Potlicker is someone who can't find fish on their own. They rely on others to put them on fish. Someone who does not take the time to learn patterns. Someone who doesn't take the time to learn how to use their electronics. Someone who cares only about catching numbers no matter how they do it. Someone who uses others for the sake of catching fish. I call them "Pockets", Because they are always in someone's pocket. That's the only way they can catch fish. To lazy to learn. Ain't that right "Pockets"? That's the bottom I dis agree on your Bp logic .. Most Bp are man made .. Now I can see were you think there made by Mother Nature Because all you fish is Waco. . Floating timber and trash everytime It rains .. So I can see were your head is. .. Far as pockets Everyone had to get in a pocket to learn something .. Don't bs .. Someone had to teach you to ride a bike tie your shoes Wrap a present .. Far as numbers ? Dude it's called catching Fish .. It's called figuring the pattern out by using your Electronics .. Everyone has pot licked including you .. Is what it is .. Most every time I go fishing, I usually run across folks fishing, that have no real idea of how or where to fish, but yet they are out there on the water giving it a go. Usually, even if the folks are total butts to me, I will offer tidbits to help them catch fish...I only have to watch someone for 15 minutes or so (sometimes it only takes a glance), and I can tell you much about their fishing abilities, good or bad. A persons attitude is what I hope to positively influence, when I offer suggestions, tackle, tips, tricks, depths, or even fishing locations (with tips for how to fish that structure.) I just think it helps the perceptions of potential and future fisherman toward fishermen in general, plus it promotes the sport of fishing. I wasn't born with the fishing knowledge I have now, so it should be evident that I have received much help along the way...Yes, I make my own way...but that doesn't mean I am above letting someone else take the lead. In fact, that is why I like this forum and its members so much, fishermen of different skill abilities helping each other out and sharing information! Nicely said and I do respect everything you just Wrote .. But the thread is about what a pot licker Is ? People's definition of a pot licker .. We all Have pot licked plain and simple .. If it's fishing Another mans Bp to watching someone catch Fish in a certain spot and go back and fish same Spot later .. To getting in someone's pocket and learning Spots etc .. We all have done it .. Is what it is .. Honestly I'm tired of fishing other people's Bp So I'm paying my dues putting in the work and Putting my own out and I'm sure it will be pot Licked by those who don't want to learn how to Be successful and take pride in catching on there Own Bp .. Hmmm .. That could be a pocket .. Lol

Lead on Crapicat! I knew you could articulate the essence of this better than I. Now where EXACTLY are the fish biting and when are you taking me? Don't forget, I'll show up after you launch, just pick me up at the dock please!!!

I have been walking around simulating fishing (like the golfers do the swing without a golf club) while I work!

If you havnt put your on Bp out your a pot licker .. Well I guess we all are potlickers then and some of us are just liars cause I know for a fact you have never put any BP's out, besides if you ever do, you won't be able to find them again cause you are clueless on how to use your electronics. And that's what God loves, "The TRUTH"! And you're crazy if you think everything on the bottom of the lake was intentionally put there by a man. Learning from someone does not make one a potlicker. Like it has been said, we all learned from someone. Either a family member, if we were lucky, or a friend, or a stranger willing to help out. I learned from Freddy and Tomasc. But Mr. Hugator was the one standing next to me when I caught my very first fish and it was a crappie on Belton lake over at winklers back in 1985. But once they gave me a clue to what I should try, I took it from there and got out of their pockets as soon as I could. I am about to jump back in Tomasc's pocket to learn how to shoot docks. He offered this weekend and I plan on learning one day. I don't claim to know everything about crappie fishing. I still consider my self a rookie, but I continually try to learn something every time I go out. And I don't exaggerate or flat out lie to make myself look more knowledgeable. I also don't mind helping anyone catch fish. I will tell anyone who asks where and how I caught my fish. But I will pull you out of my pocket once I realize you are lazy and won't try to learn on your own. Then you have to go to RC and hop in Jame's and the old man's pocket and start policking there.

Jig Master, I was simply trying to give an example of how I try to lead the people we see as a typical potlicker into following their own path, by giving them the tools necessary to become self reliant fishermen. I personally know several people that have become self-reliant fishermen (instead of potlickers, as herein described.) after giving them the tools necessary to understand what it takes to locate/catch fish on their own. As fishermen, we can all do the same thing, we just have to see why it is desirable to do so. In fact, I was addressing pot licking albeit from a different perspective...the perspective I use. Yes, I could cuss and belittle them, but that does nothing to address the real problem...the fact that they usually just don't know how to locate fish and catch them on their own, so they are reduced to pot licking...and Yes, there are hardcore pot lickers who will never stop, but hey, I even try to help them...

Before I start .. Just want to say hey your behind and love ya bro .. Now I know how to use my electronics thanks to you I finally Am getting it after you pounded it in my head .. Am I perfect With it .. Nope !! I'm still learning .. Still a rookie and a steering Wheel holder .. I did find a Bp in a channel this past weekend And killed em .. Far as James he is and has been out of town For quite sometime so Im not sure what that's about a little out There if you want me to be honest and if he was there who cares .. We have a good time and learn from each other .. That's what it's About ain't it .. Now this thread is about pot licking Again everyone has done it including you .. Far as A little brush on bottom of the lake were the dinks are Yea your right .. But I'm learning the best Bp that Are working for me is the ones that are huge And fresh .. Think about it you could move out of Old house into new one you would .. Crappie are The same .. At least that's what I'm learning .. Bigger Bp the better .. Add some brush to those Folks Bp your fishing and see if you do better .. Just my 2 cents ..

I know that my "friends" never want to go fishing until after I start showing them coolers full of fish. Then they start asking me to take them to do the exact thing they told me they didn't want to do. Needless to say, I need some friends that aren't potlickers. I was hoping to find some people on TFF, but it's pretty obvious that everyone here is a potlicker.

LOL...TFF folks tend to be give and take...ie., take me fishing on your lake and I will take you on mine...or lets go to a neutral lake and see what we can find...so, that doesn't really qualify as pot licking...unless you take a VERY NARROW view of pot licking... For what it is worth, I always want to be the guy that shows up with that first cooler full of fish to get the other guys fired up to start fishing...Oh yea, they want to go with me...usually I just tell them to call me when they get on the water and I will point them in the right direction...sometimes though, I get the opportunity to get on the boat with them...and we go catch some fish...
