The rough road at pinkston keeps people out which is a blessing really. Kurth? Have you been lately? In Feb the algae and scum was so thick from the surface down to 25ft of water it looked like you could walk across it. Tpw told me they were keeping their fingers crossed it wouldn't get worse and kill all the grass. You can thank lufkin for pumping in that nasty river water for that. Yes, that road to Pinkston has a lot to be desired. No, I have not been to Kurth since January. When I last went, the water was beautiful. I just couldn't catch any fish. I thought the only river water that was put into Kurth was from the Angelina, like it always had. Or are you talking about another river?

I have been to Naconiche quite a bit. If you are a kayak fisherman, do not go on the weekends. Guys with bass boats think they have to go full throttle to get anywhere on the lake. I launched and got to the bridge that goes over the lake in about 20 minutes with my kayak which is well under 5mph. Very inconsiderate of them to other anglers, and also the safety of people on their boats. I think other than these guys blowing full throttle all over the lake pushing your kayak everywhere, it's a decent lake I believe. I went to the south side of the lake last summer and got assaulted by red wasps. There were huge nests all over the place. I am glad to hear they did something about that lol. I have been able to kayak up into some lay downs and timber that bass boats can not possibly get, and I have managed to catch a "few" little bass

Bau5hunter, I'm always curious what people in smaller boats think about the big boats running on the lake. I have a 20 foot boat and, to me, I only have a couple of options when fishing to be respectful to the folks in smaller boats.
1. I can come off plane every time I pass someone that's not in a glass boat. Smaller flat bottoms, kayaks, tubes, etc. Since there are a lot of these type boats on the water, I would have to idle or constantly jump on plane, pull it down.
2. I can run on plane while going as wide as possible around the smaller boats. Anything between idle and high speed running on the pad of my boat is causing a larger wake. Running by you on pad at 60 will cause you less waves than slowing down to 30.
As a kayak fisherman, what would you think the best option would be?

As a kayak fisherman, what would you think the best option would be? I'm sure opinions differ but you can come by me on plane. Those that run up to ya and shut her down and gun it when they get past throw bigger wakes than, like you say, on plane and at a good clip. To me, on plane and good speed is easier on both of us... With that said I rather you not be 20' from my yak when you come by at 60mph either...

I don't know what the best option would be honestly.
This lake has more trees and obstructions that, if I went 60mph through that arm that feeds into Naconiche Creek, would cause lots of $$$ in damages.
I tried to stay as much out of the way as possible. If you say more disturbances are caused going 30 than 60, on this lake I will just have to deal with it. I can do it I guess lol

I really dont have much problem with most fisherman, its the skiers that like to try to swamp you that makes me mad. I've had several come within 10 feet of me and turn sharp trying to swamp my yak. They usually are the problem, not fisherman.
