Yep, Guy taught me this when I switched to braid a couple of years back and if I fished braid, I'd still be using them. But, I didn't like braid and switched back to hi-vis mono and no swivels!

I use a swivel when I use two of my hand ties when fishing docks or pilings. I was having issues with the braid breaking at the upper knot so now I tie my 8lb fluorocarbon to one side of the swivel with an improved trilene knot and leave one tag end 8" long and the other one 24" long and then I tie my jigs to these. Braid ties to the other end of the swivel and I have not had any breaks at the swivel since.

When I fish plastic above a jig, I use the VMC Dropshot hook to tie to. Works great and is a all ready assembled and is cheap. And it allows the plastic to swivel.

Not a good idea if you are casting from the bank, and it gets hung up in the eyes of the rods. IMO

FW51, that's why we use a #12 swivel.
