The school of fish he had would had eaten any crank bait you threw in there. He could have had on a bps crawfish pattern and said the same as he did the Livingston.

THIS Electronic sounds and lights aside, they catch fish simply because they are a crankbait, and crankbaits without those qualities such as Randy's DT6 clearly catch just as many fish. They Livingston lures closely immitate the shapes, bills, and action of other already successful crankbaits. I think the fact that they make the most subtle clicking noises is a gimmick to hook fishermen. The thump and natural action of the baits and rattles are what catch the fish in my opinion. That being said I've never used them and probably won't.

He has a point. His location and timing had just as much to do with his success as whatever lure he was using did. In other words its not like he tied on the Livingston and the fish just started coming out of nowhere to eat it. He had already found em and switched up lures to show em something different. Also I made this point to one of my buddies on Facebook in a debate about this. He said he was using his hydrowave as well and had it cranked up and running in intervals. Who's to say that the hydrowave didnt play the bigger part in getting him good bites? Also my other thought was. If he was indeed using the hydrowave then wouldn't that cancel out the "baitfish" noise the Livingston makes anyways? Essentially making it like any other crank? Again just my thoughts and not facts. Ive personally tried Livingston cranks on a few different occasions and have had 0 success with them. So again my .02 take it as you will.

LOL, hey shipmate, every one of us has their own opinion . My contention is that only the angler, in this case Randy, would know what is working and what is not. He was there, we were not. He has a point. His location and timing had just as much to do with his success as whatever lure he was using did. In other words its not like he tied on the Livingston and the fish just started coming out of nowhere to eat it. He had already found em and switched up lures to show em something different. It was my understanding that Randy Howell switched to the Livingston "prototype" because he was looking to get a little deeper than he was getting with the Rapala...and it worked for him.
I have used Livingston's cranks...and have placed in a few Top 10's. My favorite is their DM Jr. (squarebill version), but have also thrown their DM 14's, and Pro Sizzle (topwater). Caught plenty of 5's to 8's with their DM Jr's, and am convinced that their shad sounds made a difference. FYI...I am not a pro-staffer. JMHO

I have been using these with some success and will be getting more.
I talked to Jason about more colors of the new bait and he said they should be making their selections within a couple of weeks. Once the new colors are announced, then I'll get some more.
The one thing that I have to smile about is that this is capitalism at its best. Before the classic win, the lures were $11.95. After the classic win, the price for the new one is $15.95. Oh well, gotta keep the economy going, I guess. LOL

In my opinion, most of the tackle on the shelves of tackle stores catch the Angler, not necessarily the fish.
Just my opinion.
I stick to my basics to keep it from getting complicated.
