At the RR dam (FM455) pretty shallow 'til you get to the main river channel/steep to bottom of stairs At FM428 looks like the best, can go up or down stream. Good water but steep to get there At HWY 380 mudded in - easiest so launch I think best to go upstream

Good photos Phish! the 380 looks good to fish now well as for the water level. if you look at the poles you can see that it is silted in that is good for us guys that don't like them steep banks for launching the boats. just up stream are two very nice holes that hold fish in the spring and after that well fish all the bends and such. As to the bank fishing use the trail to go up and fish some of the points its hard to for me to tell you the spots but don't be shy and go off the trail and look at the stream there are nice sand bars that have fish in them with very little effort of a walk. Oh and at the ramp I have found sand bass limits just off the bank. Its just a mater of time that a run will be in the creek.

Thanks for the photos Phish! I was planning on bank fishing or taking my kayak out there very soon. I have never fished out there and am new to the North DFW area. I was looking at google maps and it appears that greenbelt goes all the way to lake lewisville. I was wondering the pros and cons of going south towards lewisville as opposed to north towards ray roberts from the 380 ramp? It seems the only information I can find references going north or 380.

Going South many times you run in to log jams. If you are lucky, you can make it all the way to the lake. However, once you get to the lake it is nothing spectacular. It is super shallow and all I had found in the past was gar. South of 380 holds some GOOD crappie, sand bass and hybrid holes. Just need to find where they are holding. With a cheap fish finder and a yak, I would find them often. Usually in a hole with some kind of structure. If you do not have a fish finder, just find deeper water and especially good at a bend. North of 380 has been good in years past when there is plenty of water and flow.
By the way, when launching at the RR dam, I found it much easier to kart my yak to the horse bridge and put in there. Hills not as steep and more space to comfortably launch. Just my opinion. I never liked the canoe launch with all the stairs.

North has been good to me in the past at 380 I can not say to the south as I have only fished it from the bank there is one hole that just looks killer for fish but I bet when the sandies are running its a hole that every one will fish not into that at all.

Denton Pond Jumper, I know the hole you speak of. Last year when we had a little more water I walked the bank to find 6 bankers and 2 full size bass boats fishing in the same area. I went a little further south, caught about 5 then left. It can get packed in there sometimes. I just don't like the guys that show up with white buckets and keep everything they catch. If you can make it all the way to the lake, just before the mouth is a deep hole. I remember seeing it when I paddled from Lewisville and the mouth was bone dry. Nice deep hole. Probably holding fish in another month or less.

At this point and time I will always put in at 380 and run up stream to RR Now the last time I did most of it with one battery on the 2man boat now I think a 2 battery for a back up would be the way to go keep in mind I spent at least 4 hours full power drifting some to.

Also don't forget this works very well for sand bass and hybrids to. Not so much for crappie. Get them at Walmart

Dang, I was just at walmart and knew I forgot something!! lol I'm still working on finishing my homemade 14 boat/canoe and am stoked to take it out to the Greenbelt/380 holes. I'm wondering if my 48 lb thrust minn kota would get me to the mouth from camp copass without too much issue...?

I use a small white grub with a pink head. Works great for the white bass and the hybrids. The above plastics work even better for the bigger fish. I made the paddle from 380 to RR, but now may have too many shallow spots and drag.

Are these spots accessible enough to walk and fish?

Welp, fished here for a bit today on the south side of the 380 bridge. I saw a few surface but couldn't get anything to bite. Lost 4 jigs per usual... haha After about 45 minutes of no action we drove down to Arrowhead park and got skunked there as well. Maybe next weekend will be better...

Give it about another week and a half to two weeks and they will be in there! The water is still not right in the lake to send them up to spawn! It needs to be close to 55 lake wide before they start.
