post spawn fish have gone through so much stress during the spawn....they loose a large amount of weight...not just the eggs they lay...it takes a while for them to get back to "normal" weight...I'd say a 10 pounder would weigh about 12-13 pounds... Yes I think not just the egg weight, but additional body mass, more or less depending on circumstances.

Depends on how big the fish is the summertime. If you caught a 26" fish that was on the slim side and weighed 9-10 pounds, that fish could easily push 11-12 at the end of prespawn IMHO. If he's full of shad in the summer, it might be less than a half pound difference in prespawn. Not a "one size fits all" answer.

Ralph Manns once told me that the MOST he had ever seen in the largest fish he had seen with eggs (16+) was 1.5 lbs., actually 1.47 lbs. He said that was really odd and he said 7-10% was much more normal, as mentioned above. GREAT resource to have as a friend. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
Thad Rains Mr Mann's is an awesome person to know. I get to talk to him often at the ramp on wed or thur, whichever day he chooses to fish that week. I just read some of his articles. Very interesting..

What? Wouldn't a 10# fish weigh 10# any time it is weighed? Not on lake fork, they weigh 10 in the guides hands and 7 on every other scale you hang them on.
