Love the YM. I've also had good luck with a Zell Pop as well. About 2/3 the cost of a YM. Both are great.

Thanks for all the input guys. I've had some great success with the Yellow Magic. I looked at a Rico today and it looks very similar so Thad may be right about them being the same bait. I'm gonna pick up a Sammy if I pass by one in the store. I catch some fish on the Zara Puppy, but it seems like the Magic works better. There are a bunch of suggestions on here that I haven't used before, so I'll be checking those out too. If they're better than the Yellow Magic, I will be very happy.

When I was younger, I used to throw a devil horse in ponds around my house. I caught a bunch of bass on them, but I don't even throw one any more. Also used a tiny torpedo, but seems like the devil horse was the better producer. Buzz baits fall in this same category, I threw them a bunch as a kid and hardly throw them any more. Looks like a few still like the buzz bait. Maybe I need to pick it up again. :-)

I catch more on the Xcaliber Zell Pop than Yellow Magic. However, a Zara Spook is hard to beat.

Would like some opinions on topwater baits you think are better than a Yellow Magic. I'm talking about open water topwaters, so frogs are out.
If you could only throw one topwater for an entire year, what would it be? Only things I have found better were Lucky Craft Sammys,buzz baits and the Pop Rs I got when Zell Roland reworked the ones Zell did can't be beat.

I have several YM'S and have caught fish on them but for me it is without question the chug bug and the baby chug bug in a discontinued color that I have been throwing since around 1995. The yellow magic is a heck of a bait but there's a reason I'm still throwing the bug.
