They have already sprayed the lake this year. It kills everything but this [censored]. No one knows who or what will pay. Our other lake is have beetle farms raised on it to try and get rid of it all

Red River Waterway Commission has teamed up with NSU to try to create a weevle that is resistant to the cold. Between the cold weather, bream, and crawfish, the weevles aren't faring too good I'm told.

Well that's something I don't look forward to, my hometown lake (wright patman) has just started getting that [censored] up on the river end of the lake and it is spreading quick and thick

Guys I wasn't trying to start a firestorm. I think we are all on the same side. I've only fished caddo a few times several years ago and I just hate to see the one natural lake we have in Texas go down like this nor any of our other fisheries in this state or our neighbors. Mudd, Bruce and txduckhunter I agree with all your points of view and thoughts. I don't know if it will cost more for sportsman to rid our lakes of this invasive plant (probably)but I think we obviously know it won't be easy. I appreciate the information you all posted regarding spraying and beetles. It might be nice if we had a post here that we could periodically update with information we get from tpwd on any new tests or progress they are making. Sorry again if I got a big argument going here. It wasn't my intention at all.

We all just concered bassbuddy. That other lake that they tested the beetles on has failed cause lack of enough of them. They r now going to build 2-3 bettle farms to try it again.

All in all lots of flushing and cold cold cold days this year is what we need. The lakes fishing has been down hill for couple years now. Yea lots of fish have been caught but before all this grass issues started showing up it was a true slug fest. I'm ready for my 50-75 fish days back again.

I hear ya Mudd. My favorite part of that lake is government ditch. Absolutely beautiful. Hopefully the fishing gets back to its prime again.

Heartbreaking. I love Caddo.

It's somewhat ironic that TPWD has become so adept at eradicating hydrilla, yet is largely helpless in this matter. I guess the notion of a triploid salvinia carp ain't gonna hang.

Perhaps what they need to do is get Don Henley to hire a hypnotist to convince all the gars and carp that salad is good for you. Swing that pocket watch in front of their faces..."you are getting sleepy....but can't rest until you have a nice South American salad."

Maybe that'll work, and if the rough fish have any repressed memories, that would be a good time to deal with 'em.

But, in all seriousness, that's a damn shame. There's quite a few very nice people running businesses out there that I'm quite worried about.
