Motorgude Digital Tour Edition 82# Thrust 50" shaft on my 22' Bay Boat and my Bass Boat - I swap it back and forth with Gator Mounts on both boats, along with my Sears Die Hard Platinum Plus Marine Batteries. I can fish for two days without a charge.

There is no such thing as too much trolling motor, but even with an aluminum tracker I would still be putting a 70 lb. + 24V TM on it.

I recently purchased a tracker 175 TXW with a Minn Kota Edge 45 LB trolling motor. It worked well until yesterday when we got a little taste of future "spring wind". I'm going to need something else as it was worthless in that wind.
I busted the prop trying to get myself out of a small cove at PK going against a vicious wind. Ended up us grabbing the big paddle I have and manhandling the boat out and using the Merc. The prop is easy to replace but I don't need the drama. Another issue is that the wind forced me to use the motor on top speed a lot and it sucked the battery dry. I have the Tracker PT 170 TX which is the smaller 16.5ft boat. I just have the Motor Guide 46LB TM that came on it. I do have to put it on full speed when it gets really windy however i try to fish out of the wind and dont go on really windy days. Where the heck are you going to put the extra battery for a 24V system? There isnt much space in that compartment where the cranking battery and TM battery set and i havent seen enough room in there for an extra battery to sit. I would like to know where you are goign to put the extra battery because i might upgrade also if my TM ever goes bad or if i get tired of it.

the biggest 24v that you can put on it. Not unless you can put a 36v. +1.......preferably Minn Kota. 2+ I love my terrova 80, 24 V with the I pilot link system. My boat is aluminum so It is more than enough, If you have a heavier boat, go higher. It is always better to have too much motor/trolling motor than not enough.

I had them move the trolling motor battery back and there is room for a third battery now.

I had them move the trolling motor battery back and there is room for a third battery now. did you have to do any other major changes to get the 24V system installed? Were you able to get all the wires to follow the same route as the wires with the previous 12V system?

I have not installed it yet. I have made the decision to get an 80# Minn Kota Terrova with ipilot later this year. I need to save up to get it. I'll probably get it in January when I have the oil changed on my motor.
