we used to fish these gravel-pit quarry ponds back up in Colorado, trolling with yellow rooster tails, and absolutely slayed the crappie... I usually troll alot when I am out on my own little boat... most of the people that I fish with would rather go out catchin, and that is the best way I know how Trolling is by far the easiest way to put novice fishermen on fish without having to play daddy so much!!! No matter what body of water you are on you can find what patterns work relatively easy while trolling. What I do, is find a few different lures that I think will work (usually something that runs between 1-3 feet below the surface, something that runs between 3-6, and different patterns, or lures)... troll those babies as close to structure as you can get, and hit all the points you can find. Typically they will key in on a specific depth or pattern, then it is just a matter of re-tying your other rods with similar lures, and trolling over the same spot over and over... we get doubles, and triples on a regular basis doin that
