Great video. I'm looking forward to part 2. I have never trolled for crappie. I have always anchored or tied off trees or bridge posts for my fishing. I have seen people trolling but never thought to try it as I was catching more than I could use or give away from my methods. But I have spend the last twenty years fishing for reds and trout so I need to learn crappie fishing all over again. I think it would be fun trolling for crappie on the warmer days as you could enjoy the breeze while moving but still be catching fish. I am not convinced yet that it would be fun in the winter. That was an outstanding method of building rod holders. I have bought six rod holders but I think I will build some of these for times when I have guests fishing with me. It would be easy to keep them on the back of the dock until I needed them. I also like the way you had the rod holders attached to your ice chest. That would be a good way to keep extra rods rigged to use when the bit is heavy and you don't want to spend the time re-rigging after breaking off a jig or minnow set while the fish are biting. My boat has some built in rod holders but they get in the way when fishing so they are not really much use except when moving from one spot to another. It is generous of you to take the time to make these videos to help others discover new methods of fishing.

great ideas. Its alot of fun making things to do the job you need to do, then to just go run out and spend money. Abt half of the trinkets we run out and buy on a whim, get used once or twice then set aside .; things we build with our own minds, and hands, have dedicated functions, and are more worthwhile of our time and efforts.... As men, it is our deep insticntual tendancy to create funtional material type things. We do this because as men, we cannot bear children, as a woman does. So lets be men, lets create things . Anybody rememeber when everyone used to make thier own shell buckets for hunting season out of 5 gallon buckets? we would make our own covers, to sit on top, and make partitions to go inside.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Good video, I will have to try that. I have an older 1978 Skeeter and when I go fishing with others, they do the driving. So when using the trolling motor and they are moving spot to spot, and going slowly, I usually have my line in the water, and I have caught several nice crappie that way. Have not tried purposely to troll with several rods, but will give it a shot, if the lakes here ever fill up and can get the boat in. Lakes are low from Mineral Wells to the west.
