I've noticed if you bring your lure back to your reel or bait holder on rod and let sit for awhile, like a week or so, you get a kink in the line. Also when you get a Professional over-run and a kink in the line it will snap also. I use InvisX and X50 with good results. IMO

This time it was breaking 20-30 yrds into the spool on the cast. Last time same thing but when I tried to tie on a new bait it would break when I tightened up the knot with very little pressure.

Thanks for all the input and info. I've checked all my guides, I wet all my knots before I tighten.
Think I'll give another spool a try and keep a close eye on things especially pulling against a hung up bait.

I have had 15# break when it shouldn't. My son did too. Stopped using it. Went to sun line.

Backlashes that kink the line can weaken it, as can an incorrect knot. Invisix is pretty knot-unfriendly.

I use it exclusively and it will certainly damage the line if you cast it with a backlash. If you hear the line hitting the reel crossbraces it will weaken the line at each line loop. All line will do that to some extent. Before you fish it again take the reel outside in the sun and tie the loose end to something, the walk out 40-50 yards pulling the line out as you go. Run it thru your fingers as you reel it back up. As you feel a kink or rough area in the line inspect it. I will bet you have abrasions in the line from backlashes. This is not a bad thing to do routinely regardless. Could save you a lost fish.

I know people swear by it but the first and only time I tried it I had the same problems. I was careful with my knots and went way beyond in trying to be careful with it and still had problems. When I go fishing I don't want to be wondering if a decent fish bites will I be able to get it in.

Up the knot at random places in the line. I've had random snaps on spinerbaits and chatterbaits when a fish strikes before I react/set the hook at all. Talk about leaving you with a dumbfounded look on your face.

Can't we all just get along....

Last week I spooled up with brand new 15lb and noticed a small line twist as I was reeling in a cast. I grabbed the line on either side of the twist and pulled. The line snapped. Now I have a reel full of $20 of new line that I'm not 100% confident in.

Exactly right. If you cast with a backlash on your reel, it will create a weak spot and it will break.
