I remember as a child I would go out in my driveway and practice pitching crappie jigs to spots I had picked out. Once out of nowhere a mocking bird came in and took the jig. I freaked out ran inside, told my dad and he got the bird off the hook.

Brought a buddy on his first fishing trip one time and he hooked a good fish early on. He had no idea how to take the hook out so I thought I'd show him how to do it. While holding the fish I, unintentionally, held it a bit too hard. That fish started peeing all over his shorts. I think he had a date that night not sure whether he had a chance to clean up lol.

At first it was about the fish, now it's about so much more...

Putting my boat in one morning by myself. Nice morning and no wind so I clipped it to the dock with my stump grabber. Walked up to pull the truck out and looked back and the boat was floating off. It wasn't too far from the dock and I took off running towards it and planned on jumping into the boat from the dock. After I committed to the jump I knew it was a bad idea. My mind said I could make it but my body didn't agree. I hit the side of the boat and went completely under. Tied the boat back off and pulled the truck out. Walked to the trailer like a soaked rat and my wife says "What Happened"!! After a while, we were both able to laugh about it instead of just her..

On tawakoni chasing the hybrids an my fishing partner wanted to throw the cast net for some shad. Sure, go ahead because we were in the back of a cove. As he throws the net, he trips and falls over board. H e is yelling help, " I can't swim " with his eyes as big as soft balls and his arms going ever direction. I cant stop laughing long enough to tell him just stand up !!! The water is only 3 and a 1/2 feet deep.

My dad always said, Son, even if it's all wrong, it will still be alright

As kid fishing for bluegill local pond a dang park duck snagged my line and then got hooked in the wing. I had a fight as it flew around in circles about 50 feet up. Finally reeled in enough to free it.

When i was a kid my brother and I where out out in the front yard casting a new rod to see how far we could cast with a jig on. He gave it all he had and the line broke and the jig went flying over the neighbors house! We drove around looking for it and never found it.

Another time when I was about 15 my buddies and I where practicing with bait casters in the front yard. My buddy threw it across the street, got it hung in a tree. A car then drove by and clotheslined it! It was too funny to see the drivers reaction. What in the world was that?

One time, my dad and his friend Joe were fishing in about 3 foot swells and so joe was runnin the trolling motor. Well a big gust of wind came and knocked Joe off balance and he was about to go over but he ran around on the outside edge on that little lip all the way to the back of the boat. It was like watching a little ballerina run on a beam my dad said. I allways get a kickout of that!

I don't exaggerate...I just remember BIG !!!

Not a fishing story, but...

One cold January morning a buddy and I were in a deer stand out near Brownwood. He had killed out the previous day, so decided to sit with me that morning. It was cold, cold, cold.

Anyway, at some point he decides he has to take a leak. We've got a coffee can in the stand for just that purpose, so he stands up and turns with his back to the front of the stand. The stand is short, so he has to lean over.

I hear him dig around in his clothes and then I hear him start. I let him go for about 10 seconds and then whispered..."Don't MOVE".

I hear him cut it off, but he's perfectly still, holding himself and bent over, facing the back of the stand. I don't say anything for about 20 seconds and he whispers, "Is he still there?". "Yeah, just hold what you've got and keep still."

He doesn't move and after a minute or so, I can feel the whole stand shaking from all the trembling he's doing. Finally, I couldn't stand it any more and had to laugh.

I still remember the cussing he gave me.

Me and a buddy took seperate boats to go prefish for a tournament. We get to the ramp, launch my boat, but his battery is too dead to get the transom saver off. I told him to back his boat down the ramp by where mine was beached and id hook my jumper cables up. Hook the cables up and he bust off the motor. I leave them with him and start idling out of the cove... he idles out as well and flags me down and says his boat wont get on pad and the steering feels funny sohe's s going back to the ramp. About 15 minutes later i get a call from him saying he couldnt find his transom saver and finally put 2 and 2 together. Never took it off .
