no hybrids in lavon. just sandies(whites)
i find the avg size sandy in lavon to be smaller than those on hubbard.
I caught a 5 pound hybrid on Lavon.

Frank I think the best place to launch is Harbor Bay Marina but you have to pay to launch there I cant remember how much and its packed on the weekends. I would launch at the ramp behind Bayview Marina its free and out of the south wind.

Hubbard 5 minutes away Lavon about 20 minutes. Sure like Lavon in summertime when Hubbard gets toooo busy. Sure wish they would stock it full of hybrids though.

I have found Lavon much easier to find sandies than Hubbard. Like stated earlier, start at the glass house and work your way to the island. I live 5 minutes from Ray Hubbard but seldom fish it because I find Lavon to be user friendly. I also find it easier to find crappie at Lavon.

Drive around any lake point in 15-30fow, when you find out what depth there holding, by using a fish finder, start looking for fish in that depth, last Sunday I found them north east of the island, in 24ft of water off the point, if your catching small fish move, there are so man little 6inchers in the lake its unbelievable, but you can't get discouraged, scout out some different spots and move around till you find the keepers, its like they play musical squares, sand bass just move from point to point in packs of usually the same size.
Btw I'm talking about lavon.

Even though I hadn't been on Lavon in well over a year I used my vast knowledge of fishing to compile this list of differences. 1......Most of the sandies are very small. Even though I was LMB wishing, I marked a ton of fish so I decided to catch a few and as normal caught 1 keeper to every 10 caught. Several of the normal spots had surface action. 2..... A lot of boats today, wait that's the same as Hubbard 3......I saw PlanoKeith, no wait that's the same as Hubbard too 4......It's 8ft low and Hubbard is only 3ft low 5......People fishing without trolling motors, wait for it, wait for it, that seems to be every lake not just Hubbard. As you can see I really have no clue

This is a normal catch iat lake Lavon every day: Nothing wrong with this lake at all except being a little bit low. If you're a Lake Ray Hubbard snob, of course you're not gonna like like Lavon. It doesn't have a big population of stripers or hybrids. But the white bass are the same size as Hubbards. Interesting how some say Lavon sucks for sand bass. Lavon is always low this time of year. A little bit lower than normal, but other than having to beach your boat to get the trailer there's no hidden trees out there to hit around the island, no obstacles to get around. All the Sandies I'm putting in the boat are 12 to 16 inches this year. 98% of the time we limit within the hour. They are in one of seven spots every day. Those seven spots are within a quarter-mile to a half mile of the island. Takes no more than 5 to 10 minutes to get to the further spot away. There are no 15-20 minute drives. And, at Lavon, the engine does not scare the fish, even when they're boiling, your engine can be on and they will be right up against the motor almost, popping Shad.

Carey those fish just know you and can't wait to jump in your truck....lol. Personally I love Lavon. Any metromess Lake will be real busy the weekend before and after July 4th. The sandies are a whole lot easier to find on Lavon at least for me and just as big. I did find the 6 inch motherloade of sandies and yellow bass there last week with Jacob. Humps were covered with them, moved to deeper water it was game on! I pull my hair out on Hubbard in the summer on some days, don't like that, too close to not having enough! As far as low water, that's the way it is going to be for all of us everywhere. Too many people not enough water. As you can see these fish are a little deeper!

I will say this. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the big wide long boat ramps Lavon has. Makes loading and unloading the boat so much easier.

Ray Hubbard Snob.....WOW......Makes sense now
