YM is the first bait I throw before the sun comes up in the summer time. Best search bait I know. I've caught bass from 4" to 6lbs on them.

Most everyone do the traditional pop and let it sit or work it more like a spook side to side?

I prefer these Rico's over the Yellow Magic. Same mold, better hooks, better colors. Rico is the original manufacturer. Yellow magic took a copy of the same mold out of Japan and replicated the rico.

Megabass F4.5-68 XX Jerkbait Special
Shimano Chronarch D7
Big Game 15#

Fish them over grass, points, humps, etc. early and late.

I like the Yellow Magic but I prefer Rico's.

I throw it on 50 lb Stren Sonic braid. I don't lose them or get broke off. I have caught a 20lb Stringer on a YM during a tournament. A Pop r isn't even close...

Ok guys I have read all these post on the YM could you guys tell me why they catch fish for y'all over the others that are made and look almost alike? It's just I have never heard are talk with anyone that has ever used one any where I have been, but seems you guys in TX love them. Might be me a good secret weapon on the places I fish lol

I love a good popper. I've always been successful with poppers. Yellow Magic poppers are ok but I find their action to be kinda dull. Not to mention, I've gone through too many YM poppers because they don't last. My favorite is the Lobina Rico popper. I prefer to pay $24 for Rico poppers. You absolutely get what you pay for in a Rico. Mine have taken beating, after beating, after beating and they still work wonderfully. Their action is second to none! They have many colors to choose from and they're built to last with great components! I'd even go wIth an Xcalibur or Pop-R before a Yellow Magic popper.

here's why. a 1/4 oz yellow magic sits vertical in the water, with the feather tail dangling straight down. pop r's and most other poppers lay horizontal at rest. however, the magnum yellow magic does not sit vertical at rest like its smaller brother. therefore I prefer and catch more fish on the 1/4 oz size. tip, if u ever run across a yellow magic plus 1, no longer in production, buy it. they are outstanding!
