The best tank I ever had was under 700 miles but we only put 12 gallons back in it. That tank was 57 mpg.

We owned a 1984 Nissan 200SX fastback that was EPA 42 mpg highway (5 speed manual). It had a digital dash with trip computer. We have had it on several trips where it actually got 45 mpg, hand calculated, including my first trip to Springfield and Bass Pro Shops.

I like that so much attention is being given to fuel efficiency. It makes for more good choices when buying a vehicle.
Didn't know they could get that far above the mpg rating. That's pretty insane!

I am sitting in a hotel getting ready for bed about 30 miles east of little rock. Diesel east of the metro mess is high!!

I could have gone the 700 miles but the tank was a little low and we stopped at a BP and they had it for under 3.79 so I filled up 50 miles from the lake.
We went 636.3 miles on 12.881 gallon which came out to 49.3 mpg. The wind blew from the side most of the way but I did get a following wind for the last 200 miles.

It rained pretty hard for an hour or more and I kept it between 70 and 75 most of the way.

All of the waterways from Arkansas through Kentucky were overflowing. The news tonight said that they had 9 inches of rain over the last few days between St. Louis and Paducah.

Call what you want but the newer Dodge 1/2 tons with a hemi will do it all day long if you can drive with sense. I did it quite a few times with just highway driving before I lost my mind and decided to lift mine. It wouldn't dream of doing it now but stock I did it quite a few times.

yeah but they cut down to 4 cyl on the highway. a V-8 without multi-displacement won't come close in a 5.7 liter engine

1, all of them do that now except 'yota I believe. 2, mine has been turned off since I bought it. When I put the Magnaflow on it the exhaust sounded hideous when it would go to 4 banger mode so I turned it off with my i1000.

My fuel mileage is quite a bit better than most people I know, but I drive a lot slower than most people I know and I don't red line it to get to how fast I want to drive. Their are several gas v-8's that will get 20 without cutting to 4 cylinders, my moms taho is an '06 and only runs on 8 clinders, it will break 20 on a road trip.

Got 12.5mpg towing a 2003 procraft 200 combo in my '03 Trailblazer to Fork over memorial day, kept it around 70mph. Get around 21-23 highway going back and forth to work 30miles each way. Hand calculated.

Chevy has been doing it since '10 or '11, I was thinking Ford might have started with their engine revamp but wasn't sure. I know 'yota doesn't but they sure build a beast of a truck.

Carried an outboard weighing 400 pounds to El Dorado Arkansas yesterday (660 miles).

Driving almost all the way at 65 (brutal) I got 23.85 mpg in my Dodge diesel. Pretty good for a 13 year old truck.
