Raise the jack plate when running at W.O.T and observe the speed and water psi. Trim it up and observe the speed. There is a sweet spot. But it sounds like it isn't getting full throttle or has a dead cylinder. It is down about 9 or 10 mph, something isn't right. I would check the throttle and see if it is getting fully open and check the compression.

Where is the water spray at ? In front of the driver seat, right next to it, or way back at the back ? Your set up needs to properly lift the boat. The right set up is a must because a Ranger is a heavy boat. How high is the rooster tail ? It should not be any higher than the top of the engine cowling ? It sounds like you are getting the rpm out of it but not the full thrust.

I have a 08 ZX225 w/yami 225 2 people hits 72 no problem, however when putting into gear if u don't put the throttle all the way down,it will restrict the speed.

He said 6000. If your tach is accurate I would start at the prop.

Wouldn't 60 mph with a 25 pitch prop twisting 6 k rpm be around 20-25% slip? Seems like a prop issue. Have you tried borrowing a prop from a friend?

The evinrude will turn a much bigger prop. Start with a 26 raker and go from there.

I agree with AstaSoftride.....If your getting 6000rpms your motor is turning where it should be. Can you tell if your prop is slipping? deff change in sound. I had a similar problem on my ZX250. My jack plate was too high. 1/4" down solved the problem. In my case I was running 3mph faster at 5500rpms than at 6000rpms. Also, I hade Steve rework my prop. He did a great job and helped me set everything up for my rig/load. Give him a call Steves custom props
