I've been out to Phantom a couple of times since March in hopes of finding some spawners from the bank but have been skunked every time. The latest was right before the last big cold front pushed through last week. Have I missed the spawn, or am I just fishing the wrong spots?

For what it's worth, I've been fishing in the east side of the lake using minnows. I've had luck in the cove off of Cherokee circle in years past, but this year I've been skunked.

You haven't quite missed it yet, but its coming to an end. I caught a few yesterday with eggs. I've been ripping them from Wednesday til yesterday. Some were right on the rocks and a few we're out from the banks. As far as bait, I caught almost all on jigs, something with blue, I always buy minnows when I go but the crappie haven't touched them in past few days. Minnows were working a couple weeks ago. But yes the cold fronts and wind have made it tough this year. I caught most of mine on the rocky bank by sail boat point, I am fishing from a boat but all the crappie are on the bank.... Get out there soon! Good luck

Thanks for the update! I'll be headed to Academy for a few more jigs to add to the collection. I'll post a report after I try my luck tomorrow.

I went out after work yesterday and couldn't find a single crappie. However, I did manage to catch 6 or 7 white bass on the rocks with a Bobby Garland Stroller. At this point, I am just happy to be catching something.

caught some today super shallow wading the flats, found a gravel bar close to shore fish were all over it, of coarse another cold front coming in, will probably spook em out again, just can't get any consistency this spawn, craziest spawn ever

Hey!!! Lol maybe cause your an aggie.... We caught a few today, on the the bank a some were deeper. Bout 16 in below a regular bobber, not a slip. I think your gonna need a boat bud from now on to really catch some. Most were off my jon with a vertical jig about 4 ft down on a 8 ft bank. Although we did catch a few right of the bank with a jig 6 in under a bobber... Boomer lol I really can't talk smack til next year but hey might as well start now. We caught most off a vertical jig just trolling... Most have moved out. From the bank I'd find a good rocky cove and fish about 16 in deep and catch the spawners and the movers
