Well, I just found a disappointing feature on my BB!. It has way to much back play. I noticed today when I was putting the rig up. I looped my line around the bait keeper and crank up the slack. On my Shimano's and Abu's this works. I don't have to put any tension with them. With my Lew's, I have to crank a little past, to where the rod bends a little, to keep it tight. If I just crank it taught, the reel will roll back, and I'll loose my hook up on the bait keeper.
Man I really wanted this to be a solid reel. Everything else seems great on it. This little nuance may not seem like much, but it will be a pain when I want to throw a bait on the keeper, and forget about it.
like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

BB1, or Tournament MG by Lews. Revo Winch is nice too.
Fishing is one of the few things that can break down the walls of age, race, and social differences.

This little nuance may not seem like much, but it will be a pain when I want to throw a bait on the keeper, and forget about it. The BB1 was intentionally designed without instant anti-reverse by David Fritts. All of his signature reels have that feature because he feels that 1. You can feel the lure better through the reel 2. You allow the fish to inhale the bait better with a bit of play in the handle. I love my lew's reels, but this was the only one I didn't like. I like to impart action on crankbaits and the backplay would create mini kinks in my line from stopping and going quickly...
Yield not to misfortunes but advance ever more boldly against them

I'm planning on getting a Winch, but I know there are a lot companies making good reels today. I want something with a slow retrieve and lots of torque. I'm looking for an additional cranking reel as well. Take a look at the Shimano round reels. They aren't your Daddy's old round reels. The Calcutta D and Calcutta TE DC are very impressive.
