I was wondering what kind of fish appears at 3:31? Is that a catfish or Carp?

That is a grass carp. It nailed my swim jig as I was bumping it along the bottom. I thought I had the state record largemouth on the other end. My blood was pumping like crazy. She actually got tangled in a brushpile and I thought I lost her, but luckily when I paddled over on top of her I was able to get her free and she kept fighting.

This was on the Red River on the TX/OK border, between 15-25 miles downriver from Texoma. I don't think you could get a boat where we were though, we had to drag the kayaks a number of times. Was a fun paddle and a fun camping trip though!

Thanks for watching! Next month I'm headed to the gulf to catch some sharks from the kayak, so feel free to subscribe if you liked the video!

Thanks brother. I wish I had gotten more bites. There was a whole underwater tree that had fallen over, that's those branches sticking out. How would y'all fish that? I went T-rigged grub only because I got sick of getting my spinner hung up. I'm real new to bass fishing...

T-rig is good. Alot of times I use t-rigged weightless plastics like flukes or senkos. If I want a little weight I stick a lead nail it it and let it slowly fall into the trees and work it out.

I need to get better at worm fishing. Is there any strategy for avoiding having your fish get hung up in the trees? Just try to yank them out ASAP once you set the hook before they have time to get tangled? You can see in that video the first bass got hung up around a branch but I managed to pull her around it...

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I love the kayak, just got it in February and it has reignited my love for fishing. Fishing from the bank or a boat is fun of course, but having those guys jump at eye-level and having big fish like that carp tow you around for 25 minutes is just a whole new experience. Not to mention getting to hang out with my feet dangling in the water in this awesome weather. I can't get enough of it!

T-rigged plastic worm, crawdad, or lizard is what I always use on submerged trees.

How do you fish crawdads? Steady retrieve or twitch the rod tip or what?
