well don't fully rule out logperch there is 11 different species of um, on the flip side if it is a walleye/sauger it won't last long over the summer especially in the Brazos it is way to shallow to hold enough cold water for um.
Its not about how deep you can fish but by how you wiggle your worm

Sauger do great in dam tail races but I doubt they would flourish below PK due to our hot summer temps and nearly 0 flow except during generating times. Oh ya, plus the state has no Saugeye program! TPWD does stock saugeye, but not necessarily where this fish was caught. Without a clear view of the doral fins and better view of the tail, it's possible this is a saugeye. The mouth doesn't look like a typical logperch, more sub-terminal compared to terminal for saugeye. Let's see what TPWD say.

The giant tooth on the bottom leans towards one of that group. As for the fella that said he fished for them in MI. If you cannot see the resemblance you may need an eye exam. (just playin dont get upset)
I have a 35.5" eye on my wall and there is a striking resemblance, also lived 4 years in CO with both sauger and Saugeye... It is in my totally un-scientific opinion one of the family there for certain.
Stocking mistakes can happen as can transport and or natural transportation of eggs. Ya just never know.

Some of our biologists looked at the photo and it appears to be a little saugeye (a walleye-sauger hybrid). Which means it's a game fish and can't be used for bait. The minimum "keeper" size for saugeye is 18 inches, with a daily bag limit of 3 fish.
We aren't sure how it got there. Some walleye were stocked in this area in the 1960s and 1970s, and have been known to reproduce naturally. Our records don't indicate we ever stocked saugeye, but the biologists are pretty sure that's what this one is.
I got this email from TPWD

Sometimes i think fisherman know more about fish than biologist. We got sauger hybrids swimming around PK , makes no sense. They as far as i can tell have never stocked sauger in texas.

Maybe they escaped from the hatchery and got into the river?
No fish is too good for the grease.
