I've retired hooks that big fish were caught on, not because they're lucky or anything dumb like that, just for nostalgia sake.

My first DD I kept the lure, hook and about a foot of the line and had it put with my artificial mount I had made but the lure was a plastic lizard that needed replaced anyway. Until I catch a state or world record, I'm gonna keep throwing that crank!!! If I'd have kept the crankbait I caught a 10lb 13 oz on 3 weeks ago I may not have caught the other 10lb'r less than 5 cast later and then another 10 the next day.
God gave me 2 ears and 1 mouth so I listen twice as much as I talk

Everytime I break my PB I retire the bait. Mostly softplastics tbh so its not that big a deal.

I keep throwing it. I want the best bait I've got in the water at all times.

Keep the lure you caught it with or continue using it because you think it is a lucky lure? Guess what? I re-tie the knot! and keep using it

most swimbaits starting at or way over $89 a pop I would go broke "retiring" them. I dont think I even re-tied after a 10-7 last week(80#braid). Now when that SAL finally bites I may re-concider!

The proven lures that just seem to catch more fish, those are the lures that David Fritts says he won't sell for $1000/ lure. I have a box and a half o them, PROVEN great fish catchers. I have given soem to friends, but I keep most of them in special places in plano boxes, marked as special.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
