Some folks put premium gas in their vehicles. Usually when it's unnecessary......so yes....that's spot on.

The negatives of fluoro are tricky and have to be carefully delt with. Mono is more "user friendly" and or "forgiving"...with that said. If you learn to manage fluoro (learn to tie a consistent performing knot, deal with the stiffness, find a brand that works for you, etc...) Its then that the positives outweigh the negatives, and the higher cost.
That's my opinion.

This is my BIGGEST gripe with big time tournament anglers.......I like some of them.....great guys.....learn from them.....but the cost of the sport and their sponsorships turn them into snake oil salesmen .........believe what you see and experience .....never what you see on tv.......
Fishing has a great deal to do with confidence ....if you believe in a bait....or your line.....you will be more successful ......

For the guys that have no problems How often do you guys change you floro I will fish it for months. I have some on my heavy jig rod from November. I do feel like KVD spray helps, but that could just be confidence.

I changed my knot 2-3 years ago and have not had a problem since. If I break off it is because I get lazy and do not retie.....and the only way to possibly avoid that is to use braid. I believe it's advantages far outweigh the negatives if any. I caught 4 fish between 3-5 lbs in a row last Saturday all on the same knot and even got wrapped up in the timber a few times. There was no visual damage to my line and I probably could have left it alone but retied anyways for peace of mind. I have had that same line spooled on my Revo since October '12 which is 2 months longer than I usually leave it on for. Seaguar Red Label 15 lb test is what I was using on a dropshot.

It's better than mono in most all applications. I'm 80% flouro 10%braid, 10%mono

All good points. Lived in San Angelo in the late 90's and spent many a days bobbing around on OH Ivie. Caught a lot of big fish out of that lake 5 or so over 10 lbs and never spooled a single reel with flouro. Horsed em out of bushes and trees, caught em in 30ft of water off deep points with c-rigs and cranks, and pretty much fished everything with 15lb 20lb and 25lb Big Game. I did use a flouro leader when I figured out what it was but that was the extent of it. Cant imagine in my head how much money I have spent in the last 2-3 years on flouro spools. Downright silly!

I do feel like KVD spray helps, but that could just be confidence. I use Trilene 100% and put on KVD when I spool up and use it anytime coils start to form. I retie often on T-rigs because tungsten is hard on knots. Otherwise I have had few problems. I love it, my son hates it and used braid all last year. He got so many fewer bites on same baits that I was fishing that he has changed over to fluorocarbon this year.

Use Seguar tie a double uni knot or san Diego jam. And then have fun. I can almost never break of 20lb invizix with a double uni.

For the guys that have no problems How often do you guys change you floro Every 4 months. But im picky even at 6 months old only issue with seguar is memory strength in 15 and 25lb is still there. But 12lb won't last as long.
