Anyone notice how many topic come up on fluro.

1. Why does the fluro I use break all the time?
2.What knot should I tie? because the one I use breaks all the time.
3.What fluro is the best as far as breaking the least?

The answers you get: Oh you probaly got a bad spool, Oh you didnt wet knot enough, you bought the wrong brand, tied the wrong knot, didnt spray conditioner on it. You get the point

These thread never come up with that i have seen with mono. No breaking problems, easy to tie knots and the best mono is half the price of fluro and you get 300 yards of it. I just dont get it. $5 to $10 vs $20 to $30, line breaking vs hardly ever breaking
I am not taking the chance to have fish of a lifetime on and my line and it breaks because its a couple of weeks old or I wasnt careful enough when i tied my knot thats just crazy. I do however realize guys do use it and love it. Just not for me.

Good question op. Use what you see and know to make your decision for you.
It is what it is.
Marketing often blurs facts.
Never use something just because pros do unless you are getting it for free or getting paid for it- lol.
Use something you have experience and confidence with yourself.

100% of pros don't use it. A lot say they do for sponsorship reasons, if truth be told, I'd say more use mono. Floro breaks on sharp hook sets, and if you are more accustomed to a sharp hook set versus a sweeping hookset then you will eventually snap the line on a hook set...especially with 10-12# test. It's happened to me more than once, and that's something I never worried about with mono. Yes, floro has some advantages, but the weakest point on your whole set up is your knot and line...why risk it?

If it costs more we'll buy it, thinking it just might give us an edge. We now pay $60k for a bass boat!

I would have to disagree with that just because they endorse dont mean they use it. I would endorse alot of things if i was paid to do so but that dont mean i would use it

New Guy on the forum....I have been here lots of times just made up my mind to join you great anglers....looking foward to learning from all of you....I own a Nitro boat and I love to catch the green fish......

I fished with Fluorocarbon for years without many breaks but it is so expensive I switch all of my reels to braid....its cheaper......

It is frustrating. I don't mind seeing the questions, because guys like us are trying to figure it out and bounce ideas off of others. I do agree 100% that if something is weak it has no place on my spools. I lost a LMB in the back of Williams Creek that had a very similar characteristic to a 5 gallon bucket.....along with a $15 Brass 'N Blades spinnerbait. The knot broke and I saw the spinnerbait go under still attached to the fish's mouth.

I hear people say to use it as a leader.....and tie two knots with it? I don't think so.....

Some folks put premium gas in their vehicles.

I think the majority of people are using the wrong set up for the line size they are fishing. You can't use a heavy rod and in some case a medium heavy rod with 12lb or less flouro. There is no give except in your rod. Another key part is setting the drag just right so you aren't putting the blunt of the hook set all on the line. Just my 2 cents and I lost lots of fish due to line break when flour first came due to these reasons.

It's funny because I use it for about 3/4 of my applications and don't have any of those problems
