Stopped in the Forrest Lane store yesterday to get some senkos and it was well stocked. Wish they still carried the higher end rods though

Shop Local!!! I agree with those statements.

Academy isn't local anymore. They used to be owned by a family from Texas.....but since the old man died and the family sold it to "Corporatate America" it's gone downhill IMO! Might as well send your money straight to China!!

PSA - Don't try to return anything without a receipt!

Some stores will be ahead of others getting their plan-o-grams set. I did notice there were more pegs dedicated to H2O baits.

I'm waiting to see if Academy is going to get into the soft plastics business. They may not due to the weight of soft plastic. Shipping costs are still based on weight and volume. Soft plastics weigh more but take up less volume. Hard baits weigh less but take up more volume.

Give your local store a little time and they'll have the isles finished and the pegs full. If they are slower than your needs ask the manager or order it from them on-line.

I haven't seen an acadamy with a "worm bar" in YEARS, i doubt they would get back into it, zoom might as well be the "in house " academy brand now.

They take up 75% of the plastics space in mine.

If i had a good local tackle shop i would shop there, we used to have a good one that turned into a cop hang out and guns only store years ago, so wally world and acadamy are my only real choices close to the house..

They may be moving inventory to cover what they moved for the Classic Expo and to re-supply stores that move stuff for the Rod Riot.

I go to the one of Forrest Lane frequently. Their selection of baits is good, but the rod selection and reel selection is down. They have one or two descent reels and alot of cheap ones, they are out of Falcon rods, most of the rods are all-star. They just don't have the selection they used to. I went to the on in Arlington and they seem to have more fishing stuff and higher end rods for sure. I wonder if these stores are independently operated or something?

Well I just left the Academy in Humble, the fishin dept is solid lots of new goodies, but when I went to see if they had any M&P .40 S&W's in or ammo- was told to call on Friday- plenty of 9mm and 22 pistols, but NO AMMO!!!! Shot gun shells mainly.

Yep- blame BUSH for this dang it....
