Shimano, Shimano, Shimano.
But if you're going to be trolling for the walleye, a baitcaster is better.

Shimano it is.
I have 4 other Shimano reels so it'll be in good company.

you can find new Pflueger Supreme XT reels on ebay for great prices. I bought 2 this spring and paid $105 each...they retail for $150. I LOVE the XTs

Pflueger for me.
The Supreme is a great deal for a freshwater reel.
After that I'd rather the Daiwa and Shimano in that order. The Aird is probably the smoothest operating of the reels listed, but I love the weight of the pflueger.
I'm not a big fan of shimano's lower end spinning reels. I've not found durability or function to be superior to any other reels here for freshwater fishing.

Okuma Epixor EB Bait Feeders. If you don't want to pay extra for the bait feeder reels you can get the regular Okuma Epixors for a bit cheeper. All of the Okuma Epixor line are outstanding spinning reels and great for salt and freshwater. Then I like the pfluegers.

The Okumas are excellent in saltwater. Have had mine for 5 yrs and cant help but get wet when wading. Shimano froze up after getting sprayed while in the boat. It went back to Academy the next day. I expected more for $200. My $89 Okuma's have been more than I could ask for from bull reds to nice trout

I was SHIMANO fan but because after one season fishing in salt water my STRADIC 4000(made in Japan) start to don't work right , 10 years ago i change fishing just with DAIWA SS TOURNAMENT and never have problem.....

Scroll down Alan Hawks spinning reel list. He has a "best general use Saltwater reel for under $100" along with several other categories. He has comprehensive reviews on quite a few reels also- http://www.alanhawk.com/reviews/lists.html

Looks like he already decided back on page one, but I'd go Pflueger.

Symetre is hands down the best of the bunch. I have 4 now and they are comparable to my stradics +1 The Shimano is head of the class here... Dan- This is blasphemy. Wasnt your Sahara 2500 giving you problems like crazy last season? I'd go with the KVD personally
