I know this is about where you would go if you could but I'd like to say, when I was stationed at Ft. Sill in the late 90's, I was BLOWN AWAY at some of the fish you could catch in the small ponds and lakes on the base.

4 - 5 pound bass would be caught on nearly anything. My PB cat I got out of a little pond on the very edge of the artillery range (now THAT's exciting fishing). It was about maybe 14 or 15 inches and maybe 13 - 15 pounds (didn't have a camera or a scale and I let it go, when I held him at waist level his tail was slapping me about mid calf ) I know that's not big for some of you expert catters, but it was awesome for me at the time.

I'm certain after 9/11 they no longer allow access to those places but heck I'd like to just go back to that little pond!

Other than that I'd like to try a nice trip on a monster river, maybe one of those South American ones where they catch those giant cats, like the Amazon.

Edit: oh, Ft Sill is in south central Oklahoma for those who don't know, near Lawton.

Pierre par troy landry's back yard they got some good cats out there! I have fished all over southern louisiana it is not easy though I have been down the achapalia river and only caught dinks.

Here is some good structure I got skunked on it is a crane half sunk in the water.
My dream fishing trip involves a boat like this:

I fished with Kirk Weldon (Obiwan57) a couple days ago. That was pretty good. I've fished the rivers mentioned above, it's a lot of waiting and not a lot of catching. Texas has some of the best fishing for catfish. The Mississippi whites (blue cats that are white in color) are decent and will hit skipjack pretty well, but it's an all day thing and you might scratch out a few. Like everything else, there are exceptional days.

Woulda been Tennessee River around Parsons with my buddy Rob, but he passed away a couple of years ago before I had a chance to make it out there. We talked about going down to Pickwick Dam and up to Dale Hollow. Next gonna hook up with my brothers and go out by Young, AZ to a section of the Salt River for flatheads in May.
