My brother lived in Florida for a while and would practice casting in his front yard with practice plugs. He had a Wiemaraner pup that would chase the plug and my brother would play the dog like catching a fish. He took the pup fishing with him and on his first cast the pup jumped into the water to after the lure. Not a good idea for a dog to be in gator infested water. He finally broke him of the habit and ended up with a great fishing buddy.

Embarrassing? Not a lick. It draws the kids around. I usually practice in the back pitching in the pool.

Not only have I pitched in the front yard I have instructed fly casting. I also open my back door and shoot my bow out my living room to a target in the back yard. I made a good backstop ,but don't know how my neibors would feel about actually seeing the bow lol.

Embarassing? Not really except for getting hung up in the neighbors trees and almost getting spooled by a passing car. rolfmao

Fish seem to bite better in the back yard at my house rather than the front. Got a couple of squirrels and stray cats that I practice casting at.

I've had many people laugh when they drive by, holler and ask how many I caught. If I need to check a real out, I will cast at home, motel room wherever.

Thanks, Billy

I like to do it from on top of the picnic table or truck bed to simulate the deck of a boat. That's how I taught myself to pitch

I usually try to stick to the backyard, but my dog is a little crazy sometimes. My neighbors know I spend a lot of time fishing, working on the boat, messing with tackle. I'm sure they think I'm a little nuts when I pitch to the water meter at the end of my sidewalk 100 times.
