the grass is the thickest and most spread out I have seen it in 4 years...the pads are also in awesome shape. Even with the colder temps I'm heading there tmro just to see what can happen.

25+years of Monticello for me. It won't die-just fish differently. Not as "winter predictable". Bet you see me in the upper end in the summer!

I heard from a friends, second cousin's, widowed aunt that they are improving the stacks at Monticello and it would be operational this spring.

Obama said he was going to bankrupt the coal industry this is one way to do it. Get over it, don't turn this into a political thread.

It might fill up with hydrilla now. I remember when the stack collapsed years ago, the water stayed cooler and grass grew like crazy. That will be a bad arse lake if it stays cool

There are plenty of good lakes to catch fish in the spring and summer. The beauty of Monticello...and other power plant lakes...has been it was a place most of us could get bit in the dead of winter.
I don't hunt anymore so it's just fishing year 'round for me. To heck with going to "normal" lakes and getting two or three bites per day in January.
This is a big loss for a lot of people, fishermen who like to catch fish in the wintertime included.
