My bud just got back and said water temp was in the low 50's. Not generating warm water at all. Man I hate to see that.

The real loss is the number of jobs that are being eliminated, the lake will just transitional into a normal lake and fish will be caught....

The loss of jobs is horrible but the lake will most likely get better not worse...it just won't be a lake you can go catch huge numbers during the winter like it has been. I bet once the water cools and becomes a "normal" lake you are going to start to see much larger fish produced over the 1st several years.

Go to the corner store gas station and look at the results on the wall when Monticello did not produce extreme hot water. I'll take that version of Monticello.

You are absolutely dead on right with that Dan. That lake has everything it needs to be putting out potential state records...its the heated water that has prevented it. most don't know Monticello used to hold the state record.

aren't all of the coal powered plants closing down soon due to EPA restrictions under Obama?

Maybe the crowds will be smaller with no hot water to create that magic winter illusion. Send all the 'hot water' people to Squaw Creek

No just the ones without scrubbers. The cost is to much to redo most old power plants

I knew this here while back that they were going to cut back on production. They said they really cannot make money or sell enough electricity in the winter. I thought that was funny but that is the word. I was told they will fire it back up by May 1 st. The fish there must be in shock and they get harder to catch when they cool down or quit pumping.

Yes it was tied to the EPA regs that came out over a year ago essentially destroying the coal business from end to end. I've heard they are still going to use the one stack to supply power to some areas but that will most likely be it and they could shut them all down at some point once the court battle is over.

I hate it for everyone that works out there, but if the grass is allowed to grow back, it will start producing some giants again. We liked to punch the grass on the cold side, and just wreck the 6, 7, and 8's.
