I used to fish the guad when I lived down there, horseshoe falls is the key. you have to either boat to just above the falls then portage (DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GO OVER THE FALLS AS IT WILL MOST LIKELY RESULT IN DEATH EVEN AT LOW WATER)or get permission from a homeowner in horseshoe falls estates.
this is a lockdown pool, fish cannot get above it unless the dam is running full blast. it is pretty deep, has a large undercut at the center of the falls and holds some huge fish normally. it does not get fished much due to lack of access.
I have stood on the bank and caught 7 in one morning (way back in 1980 something)with the small one being about 19#. rainbow rapala in as big as you can find, I used a penn 209 on a 8' surf rod, 40# pline. last fish spooled me and I never saw it, took off downstream and I could not turn it or chase probably a 50# plus. tpdw had just shocked the river and said there were some huge fish with one over 50 in the falls.
below the dam is good too, first hole used to hold some good fish and the same rapala or a redfin (again huge size) works, slow retrieve and just under the surface or on the surface, make it look wounded and you will pizz off the biguns.

post pics, I miss the guad and all the good fishin there.
