For those of you who have fished for stripers below Canyon Lake, what distance casts are needed to reach prime striper water??

Most trout fishermen get their trout "stolen" as they have the fish in close to the shoreline. Just sit and wait until one of them starts cussing cause a dayum big striper just took his trout, then go and flail the water to a froth with that Redfin lure. Just tell them "I'm here to help." Top left pattern Redfin is the one you want (6"-7" version)

Back in the 70's when I was attending Southwest Texas State in San Marcos I had a few hours between classes one day and fished below Canyon dam. I was throwing a 1/4 oz. chart Roadrunner. Caught a #12 Striper. There are some good fish in there. Good fishing.

Try some Storm Stocker trout, Bomber A long in trout, redfin in trout, Reaction Innovations Skinny dipper in sprayed grass, and various other swimbaits will produce.

Check out the top 50 stripers caught in Texas and pay particularly close attention to where they were caught<----clicky Guad below Canyon Dam holds 3 of the top 5 and 5 of the top 25....'nuff said?
