First off let me say im not wanting to start a my product is better than your product argument. A buddy of mine has a 28' southshore center console. He mainly fishes the coast and now wants to start bluecat fishing in it. This boat could easily be an awesome bluecat drifting machine. Only problem is the rails on his boat are too big for the rodholders im familiar with. I belive they are 1 1/4" round rails. Does anyone know of some bases that will work on rails that are that big, reasonably priced, and work well?

I have looked at these online and like most brands, their biggest round rail clamp is for 1" rails. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Put a pedestal mount T bar style rod holders mounted to gunnels or floor.

could always fabricate the clamps and make rod holders to fit somehow. Sorry, I'm not familiar with any that you can purchase.

Will he drill holes in his rails? I have a fix for your issue if he will. I just have to dig up the info.

I'll have to dig it up off of my home computer this evening. It's a base that works with big tubing.

here some drilled and bolt on snap links.
you could do nice with beereadys.
These are Walmart Peerless brand Spring Link in the 3/8" size.
The PVC I bolted to is 1-1/4" thick walled lined inside with metal
pipe soit won't crush by tightening bolts.

I wasn't able to find it but there are some driftmaster bases that are for larger rails. They are a machined aluminum block that you drill 2 holes and bolt the base on. It has "V" on bottom. I had specs drawn up on my computer to send to machine shop or make at home for my own design.
