Tomorrow is my birthday and I was thinking about going to cedar creek or lewisville or somewhere I just dont want to be out there catching perch size catfish. I guess I could go to tawokoni I am kind of debating right now no plans... anyone have any ideas lay it down for us or pm me.

Is there any situation where you would NOT fish on the bottom for catfish? I got the reelem in part down pat now, I was thinking maybe I should try fishing off the bottom for some odd reason I have caught some good ones right when I cast out I think my bait is in the mud or something I hate fishing with a float by the hook because I cannot necessarily feel the fish biting...

all the big fish are hiding from me...they heard that i am finally getting to leave Lubbock after being up here for two months and that i have a major hankering for some fishin....lol

99% of the time, there is no way you want feel a blue cat bite. Regardless of the rig you use. Someties they suspend above the thermocline, but i think they usually just head to shallow water.

I personally never fish "on the bottom" I rig like Tom does and keep my baits at least 2-5 feet varying off the. Off the bottom.

I was at Lewisville drifting and no luck, we found a big pile of trees on the southeast end of the lake, fished there but notta so I went to shore to make a fire and cook some chicken, we set there for an hour cookin with tinfoil on top of a log and then the [censored] hit the fan we were trying to launch the boat but it was too late, the waves were crashing and the boat was pushed all the way out the water. another boat came to take shelter on the shore in a little 16 foot aluminum job. All I was thinking was this is the perfect weather to be out there sideways so I grabbed the anchor from the front of the boat and swam 100 foot into the lake. the water is low so it is probably 7 foot deep there. I dove down there and stabbed the anchor into the mud and swam back to shore. I push the boat as hard as I could to get it pointed towards the waves and then I jumped up in there and started pulling the rope. finally I got in to 3 foot deep water so I tied off the rope and started the motor. I couldnt see over the waves so I stood on top of the console while I was driving, we shot out of there and was at sneaky pete's in no time. I got a Dr pepper for $6 and decided to get the hell away from all those yuppies so I figure I could hang out under the I35 bridge until it stopped raining. we shot over there and dropped the anchor.... first we anchored to the west, then I anchored to the north, then the south, I was running all over just trying to stay under the bridge as 40 mph wind was blowing us in to the pilings from all directions. the wind change direction every 10 minutes. I saw lightning strike the WATER on both sides of the bridge. I was sure at that time that if I got back on the lake lightning would hit us. It was wicked, I got to see the whole lightning show and I found a new honey hole somewhere there under that bridge. I peeled out about 3 am it died down and the wind started blowing to the north so I knew
I could get the boat on the trailer no problem. The only reason I didn't leave sooner is because I knew I wouldn't be able to get the boat on the trailer... 4 little catfish to show, next time I will be sure to tie off to the top of the bridge.

I would have stayed on shore. A lot can go wrong with wind and rain like that. Glad you ended up being ok.
