I think a bass club would be very cool to have in the DFW area, as long as we don’t have to have pink crank baits with bling on it, other than that and politics I’m in. There’s nothing I hate worse is drama.
Key to success is all of us being ambassadors of kayak fishing.

What in the world is the need for money and officers? Isn't it just a bunch of guys going fishing?

One thing to consider is perhaps having the meeting at the end of one of the tournaments while everyone is there together.

I have been in the Gainesville bass club and its pretty laid back but ran very efficiently. The meetings were another chance to sit together with like minded people.

I'm for anything that is going to bring the kayak bass fishermen together!! thumb

fees could go towards patches for our pfds, gota have rocker patches to rep. our turf. we could wage turf wars against the power boats, And initiation is a must, i recomend getting beat with a paddle. blood in, blood out. After we get established we wouldnt need fees for the gang... i mean club, we could make money by smuggling big bass across lake lines .... all joking aside i think the idea of a club is a good one id be interested

I just listed things to think of. I have no idea on all this, thats why I posted it.But I see your point Brazo's. Thats why I said dues are not a big concern to me.

Slow down fellas... Bass clubs are actually very common. If you're not aware of what a typical bass club is and does, just use google. You'll quickly find that some of them are extremely formal, with constitutions and by laws etc... Personally I find most of them to be a little too formal myself, but the point here is that Ninja was just asking for input. There are bass clubs that require dues. Like Todd said, the dues cover the cost of the sites for tournies, hats, shirts, decals, kegs... He wasn't saying we had to have them.

Chris you made some great points. That said, there are some real differences between AKF and here. When you guys get together, it's always about bass fishing. Here we're a lot more democratic. Some of the best, most respected anglers on this board are not interested in bass fishing in the slightest. As a result, when we have get togethers/events organized through this forum, we choose sites mainly because they're centrally located and they can accomodate large scale demos. Many venues are rejected or not even considered because they're too far from Fort Worth, say, or not good for white bass, or etc... Places like the LBJ grasslands, Mill Creek, Lake Bryson, Eisenhower State Park, areas of the Brazos, Fork, heck maybe even Caddo or Ivie could be venues if you run it with the emphasis on the fishery more than the parking and accommodations... They would be bad choices for the fall GTG, but would make sense for 15-20 guys who want to get together for the best in bass fishing our area has to offer. When we say 'meetings' we mean 'meetings at lakes where we fish' with maybe a five minute hackey sack discussion about what to do next time.

And Brazos Paddler if we did this, it could just be some guys fishing together. But it could be more too. It would all depend on what those guys fishing together wanted it to be...

Just an idea, but if regional clubs were started, then we could do a couple events per year where the top guys from each region compete on a nuetral lake. Of corse this would be bass fishing, but there could be a saltwater series too.

Here in Austin, my TNT "Thursday Night Tournament" summer series has been pretty successful, but it's allot of work, even for a short simple tourney with 10-15 guys on average each week. In my experince there is always guys that want to be involved and fish events, but finding guys that will run them is the difficult part.

In all, I think you guys have some good ideas and I'm up for anything that helps grow the sport and gives back to all the anglers I have learned so much from over the years.
